Galvanised iron

Featured Replies

I need to do some welding repair work on my boat trailer and wondered if there is anywhere on Samui

which sells galvanised iron. Rods, sheets, bars no matter.

Thanks

Please know that when welding galvanised steel, the galvanisation in that spot vaporises. Fumes are toxic and you will be left with a vulnerable to corrosion weld. If you can, try to bolt on reinforcements instead of welding.

Thanks John and G/Sailor

I will try Homemart.

I never thought about the welding also corroding! I am cutting away the existing suspension as the leafs have totally corroded and

I will try and bolt the replacement metal on. Thanks for the tip!

hi guys

galvanising is a coating on top of the steel

you can weld [as above ] and paint with special paint on the welded area

you can readily buy galvanised pipe on samui [used for water lines ]

only seen round shape not seen anything square or rectangular

small parts can be sent to suratThani for galvanising

cheers
