england-5.jpg

PATTAYA: -- A 53 year old Englishman was seriously injured in a drunken knife attack off Walking Street in South Pattaya, early on Wednesday morning.

Mr. Mark Anthony Strickleton was walking back to his Hotel with his partner Miss Karen Walton aged 50, also from England. The pair were walking up Soi 16 and approaching from the opposite direction was Khun Mondree aged 27 who was staggering and knocked into Mr. Strickleton as he attempted to pass him.

Khun Mondree demanded an apology which was not forthcoming. He then produced a knife and stabbed Mr. Strickleton in his neck before running off.

Passers-by assisted the injured man and Police were soon on-scene and were able to locate and arrest Khun Mondree who was taken to Pattaya Police Station.

Agree, shocking for the couple and hope the guy makes a quick recovery.

Did that mean nasty farang walk on your footpath and was he so rude as to not say sorry when YOU bumped into him. There, there, there we will sue him for huge compensation, 60/40 ok.

What this picture indicates is that the Thai is the victim is this sorry story. Instead of giving him a hug throw him in a cell until he is sober enough to interview.

Looks like the cop is helping the drunk get his story straight. Blame the farang.

Speedy recovery to Mr. Strickleton.

tsk,tsk, tsk, Chooka.

You must be new in Thailand.

If that English couple didn't went to Thailand in the first place, nothing of this would have happened.

So, the English couple is in fault and they will have to pay lots of money to the Thai bloke (and the Police) for not apoligizing.

Rule 1 for every tourist in Thailand.

Before the xenophobia posts start would just like to say 'Passers-by assisted the injured man' I'm guessing that some of these people were Thai so all faith is not lost yetw00t.gif

As for officer Somchai Dimwit, not quite sure what he thinks about those pesky foreigners.

'Khor Tort' was one of the first expressions I learnt coming to Thailand. Used liberally, even when it shouldn't be needed. Poor guy, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

In the photo ,If you discard the uniform(or not) they look like drinking buddies after a hard night on the piss...amazing...

Has anyone ever been to a seaside resort/tourist town in the world with as much hostility from the locals against the foreigners as Pattaya , besides Phuket ?

I am losing count of the number of vicious and unwarranted attacks on tourists in the last few weeks, for apparent slights to Thai's who were bumping into people or nearly running them over. With seemingly little being done about it I can only assume this kind of attack will happen more frequently.

Sorry but I lost all faith in Thai's quite a few years back. It is the most vicious and racist nation I have ever been to (I have spent several months in 25 countries from the US to the middle east, Europe and a year in India as well as living in SE Asia for the past 12 years). I am sure there must be some good Thai's but from my personal experiences over the past decade they are few and far between.

I regularly warn friends not to travel to Thailand, come to Cambodia instead, the hospitality here is amazing and the smiles are far more genuine.

Sadly my instant reaction to meeting any Thai now is one of complete distrust.

Could happen anywhere smile.png

Sure it could happen anywhere but more likely in Thailand and Pattaya than most other places.thumbsup.gif

Last week a pack of katoeys beat a farang to death in soi 8 in broad day light apparently after giving the finger to a one of the katoeys as he walked by. There doesn't seem to be a day or week go by without some vicious attack on a foreigner for nothing really.

Welcome to the land of smilescheesy.gif

Thailand is becoming the toilet of the world.

Pictures like this, circulating around the world will only show how much hate there is for tourists.

Today I am more disgusted in Thailand than ever before!

Thailand has a lot of questions to answer, if it could be bothered or even give a rats ass !

While I admit it was difficult in this case, I say again, stay far far away from Thai men in nightlife areas.

'Hey Doris heres one on Teletext...two weeks by the sea in the worlds biggest bar fuelled brothel, its got murderous traffic and even more so locals. Apparently low level crime is de riguer and law enforcement can be bought or bought off. All this topped off with a cornucopia of international deviants, criminals, and drunken Slavics, whats not to like'

Yes could have happened in other countries; however, it happened here- in The Land of Smiles, where the locals are supposedly "Non-confrontational..."

What DOES happen in most western countires is that the agressor is brought to justice and receives punishment in proportion to the crime.

Kudos to the locals that gave assistance to the injured tourist.

Na extremely rare all most extinct these days. Crime is actually listed as endangered.

Tourists should feel assured that the city is safe and the chances of them becoming the victim of crime are very slim.
