Football on your phone

Has anyone used this app?

BANGKOK: -- THE AIS Mobile Barclays Premier League (AIS Mobile BPL) app crashed on Saturday night during the opening of the match between Liverpool and Stoke City.

The reason: it was the first match and huge numbers of people had accessed the app at the same time, bringing down the server, said Pratthana Leelapanang, senior vice-president for digital service at Advanced Info Service (AIS).

Because of the crash, many people could not access the app |to watch the game. As a result, |the company set up a "war |room" to examine the problem |and it will increase the server's capacity to support a lot more |viewers immediately.

Pratthana said a flood of complaints were received on social media, Facebook, Twitter and Pantip.com from people who could not watch the game through the Mobile BPL app.

AIS had launched the AIS Mobile BPL app last week to allow AIS 3G 2100 users who'd paid Bt299 per month to watch the whole 380 matches. The company launched the promotion for users to subscribe to the service by September 30 paying only Bt199 per month.

AIS 3G 2100 users can subscribe to the service by pressing *909*9# on their mobile phones, both iOS and Android. This service is the result of collaboration between AIS and CTH for three years.

I downloaded the app from the Android Play Store. You have to dial *909*1# to subscribe. I then got an SMS in Thai saying they are upgrading the network so it is currently unavailable.

I've just downloaded the app but when I open it I just get a message telling me the mobile number in use is not AIS or AIS 3G 2100 number, but my sim is both AIS and 3G 2100 sad.pngsad.png

Running it on IPAD. Very impressed although the one time passwords are a bit of a pain

Thank you AIS for something positive out of the True vs CTH debacle.

Any prospect of getting the international preview, HT and post match analysis rather than getting Thailand's equivalent of the Two Ronnies?

I watched the United and the Villa games on Saturday on a Galaxy Tab and the app worked fine. I may look at getting an android box and installing the app on there so I can watch on the tv. Well worth Bt 199 p.m so far.

I cannot find the app on Google Play on my Samsung Galaxt Tab 8.9. sad.png

Searching for AIS, AIS BPL, CTH, all nothing. sad.png

Just type AIS into google play. The App is called 'AIS Mobile BPL'.

Currently using it to watch Manu v crystal palace on my iPad.

I like it. No buffering, decent picture, English commentary..

Do you have to watch via the AIS 3G internet connection or can you still watch if you're connected to the internet via a WIFI connection?

Nope. Nothing like that under a search for AIS.

Searching for 'AIS Mobile BPL' returns two Apps: Renkmobile Bilisim Download manager and Thailand Flag 3D free I like my country.

Samsung Apps doesn't have it either.

I searched for AIS in playstore and, if the screenshot has uploaded, this is the list of apps I get. The second one is the one you want.

Sent from my i-mobile IQ XA using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I watch it via my true docsis wi fi on my non 3G iPad.

I type in my ais phone number and the password is then sent to my phone. I then type this in immediately to my iPad app.

Agree with another poster, sometimes you have to apply for numerous passwords, if you leave the app for a while or if you want to watch the late game for example.

Hope that helps.

In a similar way that you use an adapter to connect your i-pad to your TV via the HDMI socket you can use an adapter to connect the original version of the Galaxy Tab and all the Galaxy Note models to your TV. But the Galaxy Tab 2 is incompatible and can't be connected (except for one version designed exclusively for the US market).

I already have a Galaxy tab 2 which is ideal for what we use it for so I don't want to spend a lot of money updating it.

I've been looking round though and there are Tablets with a decent spec available for 5-6,000 baht that have both a sim card facility and an HDMI output socket. AIS told me a while back that they will supply two sim cards using the same phone number so I'm thinking of getting a 'cheap' tablet, putting the second sim in and connecting it to the main TV. I could then watch the EPL on the large screen when I'm at home and watch it on the tab when we're in the village.

What version of Android are you running pilm?

Posted

It says Android version: 3.2

I've never updated the version, will do so tomorrow once I'm connected to wifi.

pilm, I contacted AIS about another matter yesterday so while I was on to them I asked about the BPL Mobile app as well, and more specifically what versions of Android it was compatible with. The lady went away and checked first then said it's compatible with all android versions from 2.3 up to 4.2. So it should be compatible with your tab.

She also told me you can run the app on two different devices at the same time, so, if there's two people in the house wanting to watch different matches they can do so using the same package.

Have you phoned AIS on 1175 to ask why you can't see the app on play store.

Also when I registered for the service with AIS the conformation text they sent me also contained a direct link to download the app. Have you registered with them and not got the link or are you just trying to download the app first?

I tried this yesterday with my non 3G ipad. Very happy with the results. It cost me just under 300b - 50 for the sim, and 199+vat, for the service. Quite surprisingly, the saleswoman explained that the service had gone down a few times before so would not guarantee it would work, but no problems yesterday.

Well, this weekend was poor. I watched the Villa game on Saturday and it wasn't too bad, but froze a few times. I then tried to watch the Liverpool game and it kept freezing every 5 minutes or so, meaning I had to go to the screen listing the games and click on the game again to reload it. The same happened with the City-United game.

I did find Stadium 1 on an xbmc add-on which I guess cant be named here.

Hopefully the AIS app is better next week.

Strange, I also watched the Liverpool-Southampton game Saturday and the Arsenal-Stoke match on Sunday without any noticable buffering/freezing. During the Man U-Man C game we had a really heavy downpour and my TOT internet went down after twenty minutes. So, for the rest of the match, I used my AIS 3G internet from my mobile, connecting to the Tab via the phones wifi hotspot and watched the rest of the game without any major problems. I think it froze two or three times but each time was only for about three or four seconds.

On this weeks showing it certainly beats a flash player stream over the internet hands down.

I bought an Android mini PC last week from the Mobile Expo, with the intention of installing this app and playing on my tv. Unfortunately it says the app is not compatible with it, so I had to download the apk and install via APKInstaller. Unfortunately I can only watch Stadium 1, it wont let me switch channels. Also it only allows 420p, not 720p, so the picture is not as clear as on my Galaxy Tab.

However, other than that it ran ok, with no freezing of the picture.

299b + vat this month.

I went into the AIS store to pay on Sunday and the dozy rep said it would be impossible as there is no such thing. After telling her I've been watching it for a month she still wouldn't budge on her stance................I gave up and went to another rep with a brain.

Is anyone linking their cellphone to their TV ?

I have LG Smart TV and will buy an LG Nexus Smartphone if I can link

Totally Fed up with CTH, when I enquire my billing and give them the account number I'm told it does not exist, nor the cell phone number

I registered with them

This does not prevent them sending me unfathomable bills.

Apart from spending forever looking for their schedule, thro' various websites

I am trying the 365 and it's ok but ......

Thank You
