Exactly. He has absolute power, he just has to pick up the phone to get his passport canceled. But he chooses not to.

He does not have absolute power - do you know what day this is?

The RTP won't even take care of one of their own....says everything you need to know

To me that is indeed the most fascinating part of the case. The fact a rich moron

is driving around drunk/stoned and killing people is just another day in the life here.

But when this policeman was killed, the first move of the Thai police was to try and

stitch up a fall guy in exchange for money. The beat policemen have to be a bit

nervous when they could see how quickly they can be thrown under the bus.....

So clearly the Thai police mafia is not modeled on the Italian mafia, as I believe

in the Italian mafia one of the cornerstones is to take care of their own.......

What a vile, disgusting nation Thailand has become.

General you should be ashamed, you said you would end corruption.

Koh Tao and Red Bull...what a start to show your people you were a man of your word.

You have failed.

So, on a par with a hundred or so other countries. Not sure what the general has to do with the red bull case though.

He has nothing to do with it. It was a mistake anyway, very different from the Koh Tao murders.

People get killed on the streets everyday and the price to pay is about 50,000 baht for a death. Wy should the red bull guy pay more just because he was in an expensive car?

He has paid millions anyway - everyone is happy except the policeman(maybe) and the Thai haters.

He could have demanded justice, that's what

It wasn't a mistake that the red bull guy was drunk, on drugs and speeding. He should be in jail.

Yeah I'm sure the dead policeman's family are over joyed, I bet they have forgotten all about him with their new toys that all the blood money bought

Get real. No amount of pay off can replace a loved ones life.

According to a thai friend of mine, he's been studying in central London for the past year or so. I will ask her which college but think it was either the RCA or London college of fashion

EDIT St Martins

Never heard of the term extradition?

Happens all the time, except in Thailand

Thaksin, Red Bull, Monk now living in the USA, all 3 could have been brought back to Thailand to face criminal charges.

All 3 still living in exile, free men....why?

Extradition requires bi-lateral extradition treaties. It is also often only for particular crimes. There may be various reasons why extradition isn't an option.

To be honest, it happens to so many, so it's kinda' a trend - I do believe, they allow them on "purpose". If you exile yourself, they don't touch you.

It's a "mai pen rai / avoid to much fuss / limit the loss of face" -thing. Many of the cases involve to many "other" people, that has not been named. So they limit the scandale by having one guy taking the hit. The award for that, is that they do not cancel your passport, at least not until you reach a safehaven. But other than that, they let you run....

The fact is that in Thailand it has been repeatedly proven that anyone rich or connected enough can kill someone else like a rat and nothing is going to happen to them. The country is a classic ganster state.
