Best area to stay in Bangkok for bars/ go go's?

Skytrain, skytrain, skytrain... Get off at Asoke. You will see Terminal 21 Shopping Complex (fantastic place to hang out and eat...may floors of restaurants and beautiful food court on the higher floor.) as you face the entrance of Terminal 21, you turn to the right and walk a few meters to the intersection. Look down that street and you will see a sign "Soi Cowboy". Just a hop, skip, jump, and bumpity bump aways. I don't care for Nana plaza ..but thats a 15 minute walk towards the Nana skytrain stop. Live Bands and cutest dancers at soi cowboy, my choice. Went there on my birthday last week

Never mind about BTS/MRT and all the hassle they involve, just set up base camp and book yourself into the Nana hotel.

For the poster above, next time try Ratchada, its like night and day.

The only thing was that you mentioned that you were nicked named 'Pumpkin Man' because Cinderella had to back by midnight, before the BTS closed.

To the OP ...

If you want the 'Patpong' experience, search for hotels on Silom or Sathorn Rd.

Soi Cowboy or NANA are both popular, and probably more so amongst the regulars to the Area.

Both are OK.

If you want NANA look for hotels in Sukhumvit Sois 1 - 20

If you want Soi Cowboy look for Hotels from say Sukhumvit Sois 10 - 36

If you wish specific recommendations, then better give the Budget and length of stay.

My sister is currently staying a week in Soi 11 ... also know as the 'Farang Soi'

I stayed last month in S33, Soi 33 Sukhumvit.

Patpong is now in very rough condition, years of neglect and decay and much of it closed down last time I walked through there last year.

Soi Cowboy is still my fav. I stayed in the Tai Pan just down the street many years ago but it was becomng a real dump. Maybe it has been renovated since? They used to hit you with a joiner fee the next day if you had a guest though. Not sure if they still do as it probably was not good for business and I eventually started staying in Centre Point Serviced Apartment on Soi Sip. Much nicer and more private and no added fees. A bit more expensive but if it just a few days, worth the cost. Does seem to be attracting a lot of middle east people recently, but they seem to mind their own business.

Just looked at the Tai Pan website, says Bht1,800 a night. Not bad.

Soi Cowboy ... 'Big Gun' (from memory) 2nd or 3 rd Bar on the right coming Asoke Road ... the show from 11ish is worth the price of a beer ... my humble opinion only ...

Where you book ... just ask if there is a 'joiner' fee ... you might find an old lost friend who needs a bed for the night ... or just a few hours ...

There is a security desk at the ground floor lifts. All ladies that you invite to your room must leave their ID card with the security desk to be collected on their way out. If you have been polite and the security desk likes and remembers you .(baht gift).. The lady will not be returned her ID until you are escorting her or the security desk has rung your room for your ok..

I haven't used the Nana hotel for over a year, but I am assuming this excellent system is still in place.

You can have a lovely time with BKK finest ladies and drift off to sleep without a worry of awakening alone and fleeced.

Hard to beat the Dynasty Inn for location and price, I think it might be a little "fresher" than the Nana Hotel, Dynasty just renovated the back rooms. Same company has the Dawin, a short walk down Soi 4 from the Dynasty Inn, a little newer, nicer, and quieter part of the street. But the rooms in the rear of the Dynasty are quiet. You'd never know Nana Plaza is right next door.

Same system as described above for Nana, they hold the guest's ID and call before returning it when the guest leaves.

More bars up and down Soi 4 than you can handle in three days. Enjoy.

Just curious, as I am not even into the scene. I live in Ratchada but I am not aware of any area with gogo bars, just the area with the big massage parlors, do they have gogos inside? Just wondering because I only went to Patpong like 8 years ago, and occasionally go to Soi Cowboy to have a drink when a visit comes to visit me from Europe (good excuse for the girlfriend :-P), and both of those places look completely different to the massage area in Ratchada.

I just stayed at ICheck Inn Asoke and it was like 23/night because they are in the middle of a remodel. The hotel is on Sukhumvit soi 31. Its like a 10-15minute walk to soi cowboy and a 5 minute walk to a ton of soapies on Soi 33 including Akane.

Pumpkin Man still had his wits about him and booked a hotel two blocks away.... so this handsome man stayed to the wee hours of the morning. Plenty of other transportation, but if you arrive in bangkok and don't trust taxi drivers, the Skytrain is cheap and easy and a good landmark to find Soi Cowboy. Up 2 u what transportation gets you out.

Dynasty on Soi Nana - been going there for years - good management and security.

Rooms at rear are good and quiet but the front rooms are OK too.

I add my vote to several others who recommend the Nana on Soi 4.

The Dynasty (or Die Nasty as it used to be known) also on Soi 4 has been the venue for several farang deaths by Katoey in the past - I recall one nasty case where the poor guy was found next morning with a plastic bag tied over his head. Some years ago I do admit.

Sukhumwit between soi (street) 3 and 21 – close to Nana Entertainment Place (soi 4) and “soi cowboy” (around soi 19 or 21).

By skytrain you can go to Patpong (2 sois, one short and one long), where there is a night market in the middle of the street, and (lots of) go-go bars at the sides. Intersection Sarawong Road/Rama IV Road, think it is Skytrain station “Saladeng”.

I live in Pattaya and was very anxious to visit Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza when I went to BKK several months ago. Both places were a major disappointment. The go go's were old, the girls were average at best, and looked totally bored. Walking Street is better in every possible way! More go go's, nicer go go's, more girls, cuter girls, and girls that can actually dance!

Actually Patpong has had a resurgence in recent years. Some of the best gogos in Bangkok can be found there, particularly on Patpong soi 2 (Electric Blue, The Strip, Bada Bing, Black Pagoda, Pink Panther) and there some good restaurants (Madrid) and bar/discos on soi 1, as well as some old expat favourites that have been going for years (Safari, Goldfingers).

Many expats favour Patpong as there are fewer tourists (in the bars) and more girls! Just avoid the many touts and avoid any dubious "shows".

Omni Towers does the same. Same price as Ibis next door c1500 but massive apartments with living room bedroom kitchen and bathroom. And on Soi Nana.

I agree with all those that recommend Dynasty Inn, they have a chain of places in the general vicinity of Soi 4 or Nana Soi and range in price according to level of comfort and utilities you want. Simple to find look at www.dynastyinn.com it will show all their hotels. They also have a few in Pattaya. If you decide to spend 4 nights at one of their places in Pattaya you can use their shuttle service to get there from BKK for free!

I havent been back to BKK for a while (Live in Chiang Mai now) but over a 5 year period I use to visit BKK and the Dynasty Inn quite regularly. Always got good service and women in the area always looked after my needs/wants

City Lodge on Soi 9 next to Nana BTS couldn't be any better placed.. Walkable to NEP and SC and the delights of soi 7/1.

All really depends on what your definition of "best" is in the phrase "best hotels in Bangkok for ......" is.

There are many small boutique hotels I Bangkok. both on Sukhumvit road and other roads within a 100 t0 150 Baht taxi ride of either Soi Cowboy Or Nana Plaza with:

• good room prices
• fast internet
• a quiet surrounding (not much traffic noise)
• a garden setting
• maybe (not always however) a small pool
• a "friendly" attitude to overnight visitors
• good breakfast buffet

and so on.

You just have to check them out, because one person's idea of a "best" hotel will usually be different from another person's "best" hotel and what that person thinks is a required feature.

Don't ignore those hotels around Skhumvit soi 30 to 45 that mainly cater to Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc, guests either.

Rooms may be small, but they are clean and often new.

It's all in your particular perception of "best".

I live in BKK but I'm not interested in gogos or bar girls.

Went to Nana Plaza last weekend for the first time on the promise of free beer (that turned out to be a bit of a dubious claim) and I wasn't too impressed.

I couldn't figure out why guys would PAY to have sex with most of these girls. They weren't attractive IMO.

Sure there are some nice looking ones around but the majority were not. Seemed to be more girls around than guys too so I doubt they can all be getting a customer every night.

On top of that over priced beer, stupidly loud and really bad music in most bars, being hassled for lady drinks, shady clientel...could not see the appeal?
