Timber in Udon?

Featured Replies

Looking for dressed flooring timber in Udon Thani or thereabouts. Tongue and groove preferred

but that might be optimistic ... Places I've tried either have it not dressed or not enough for my

18 sq m. room.

There's a timber warehouse just before do homes in khon kaen on the road from udon tani

You could try there if you have no luck in udon

If there is a Do-Home in Udon then why not get laminated tongue and groove flooring.....fantastic finish.

Go to Fuzzy Ken's bar and ask 80 yr old Kiwi builder Peter. He should know -If he's still alive!

Geraint,

If you are looking for quality finished timber in Thailand then my advice is forget it. There is no such thing.

There are no timber finishers (or none that I've found in 13 years) and even if you did manage to find one there is no kiln dried or seasoned timber. Most of the stuff you see everywhere is young fast grown cheapo wood imported from Malaysia.

Vietnam has some lovely wood and craftsmen. Thailand has cr8p wood and men with similar skills.

Are you from Wales by any chance?

Must be with a name like Geraint.

if no luck in Udon then take a drive to Nong Khai , many good timber yards bringing wood from Laos , i have one i buy from which has kiln dried quality hardwood and priced pretty well too ...tongue and groove may be the issue ...

And no not from Wales, Australia actually.

.............I should have mentioned, Peter was importing special termite proof timber for construction from New Zealand or somewhere.

Thanks everyone.

as you come from nong khai heading to udon , on the lhs you have a ppt gas /amazon store , right next door to this on the udon side is the yard , it has a landscaped entry and goes back about 10 rai ...they have a team of guys also making doors and warehouses full of timber ...now i am not sure about getting exactly as u want dressed , but they made my doors so i imagine dressing some flooring may not be an issue ... take a thai with u as the girls only speak thai ...

cheers
