Anyone in Ubon Ratchathani Interested in Bitcoins?

Featured Replies

Just enquiring if there is any interest in the local area.

Bitcoins were recently declared illegal in Thailand.

Correct.

I believe bitcoins have not really been declared illegal. There is a recent topic about it on Thaivisa and as far as I can remember a bitcoin trader applied for a licence as currency trader and the Bank of Thailand (BOT) denied it because bitcoins is not considered a currency. Confused about how the applicant presented his case, the BOT ruled that bitcoins should not be bought and sold in Thailand until the matter is clarified in greater detail. Can't do an easy search for that topic on the tablet, but perhaps another member can post a link to it here and this topic can then be closed.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Thank you for the link, UbonOz.

Seeing that this topic is running in a local forum and is not about the legality of bitcoins but about whether anyone in Ubon Ratchathani is interested in bitcoins, it does not need to be closed after all.

Let us keep this thread on topic by posting only about local players in Isaan, and now that we have the link post any opinions about the legality of bitcoins in the corresponding topic http://qz.com/110164...-what-it-seems/.

Thanks just the same to HAL9000 for touching on the legality question, as this opened up the opportunity to link to the other topic dealing with it.
