Houses in Chiangmai

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I intend to move out of Bangkok and to Chiang Mai. Would like to ask a few questions. Are there any areas that are prone to floods and also where are the nice and safe areas (or moobaan) to buy a house in? Would prefer to be near to city or doi suthep? Thanks in advance... Cheers!

I haven't seen any major flood for the 2nd year in Cm. Nothing serious as other province.

I don't really know about house near doi suthep. Mostly condo's and apartment for students because CMU is right beneath doi suthep.

Good luck on finding some place nice... oh and welcome to CM.

Main flood areas are places next to the main Ping river .Best to just come up and rent a Hotel on a monthly basis first and then look around the various Moo baans .So many to choose from .Cheaper if you contact and rent directly from the house owner .

You can be next from the national park / mountains if out of town a little bit. Nice fresh air and not so hot as out on the valley or in town.

Thanks guys for all the replies and also the welcome! Today I went around looking at all the various options available and a project called supalai ville really caught my eye. Seems to be in a pretty safe moobaan also close to the big c, makro and airport. Nice quiet surroundings. Tomorrow I will sign a rental agreement for an apartment to stay for the time being while I sell my place in Bangkok. And yes you were right, doi suthep apartments are all filled with students and teenagers, really made me feel old.

Just did the same. What budget are you looking at?

I'm looking at max B3 mil, or slightly over. Not more then B3.5 all in though. Where have you been to have a look?

That's difficult, perhaps a bit outside. We were here fore a week in July and drove around. Plenty of developments, but if you want a decent one you need to plan for 4mTHB at least.

They calculated a new House somewhere on the ring road in the east, that came with 90 talang wah (360sqm) Land, nothing inside, empty house with water, electricity and aircon for 4.5mTHB.

I could give you a great location, neighbor is selling, but that's 5mTHB with 118 talang wah land size...

Thanks guys for the PM's and also the recommendations. But as i am only staying with the misses, we have discussed about it and think that a 50-60 talang wah size 2 story 3 bedroom house is more then enough for us now. I am pretty interested in the Supalai projects that are just in my price range not more the 3.5 everything in so more or less leaning in that direction. wai2.gif
