Need a "live OS" CD

Featured Replies

Hi All

is there some mail order business here which sells bootable CDs?

My notebook shows the usual manufacturer's symbol 6-fold and in tiles. (3 each on each side of the screen).

The computer shop tried to sell me a new LCD screen @ 2,500 B. The LCD is fine - it's what the software is generating which is bad.

The computer repair shop has no live CD. They exist for Windoze, too.

Hoping there will be an alternative to buying Knoppix in the USA.

Cheers,

Chris

Highly unlikely. You don't have another machine on which to make the CD?

Maybe a forum member can make one for you and mail it or meet up for a beer af your expense.

Why dont you just walk into any Internet cafe or go anywhere where you have access to another machine and download Knoppix or similar Linux distros that can be used from a USB or CD as a live system without installing them. Buy a CD or USB then download the distro and make it bootable with Rufus for example. Nobody is going to sell it to you as its open source so it's not for sale. It's free.

Post me a usb stick, I'll download and setup a live usb for any linux distro you want - FREE

Cheers, AA

Download Linux Mint or Ubuntu image (ISO) then burn to CD/DVD. Before downloading check the size of file, CD needs under 800MB, many need DVD. Then burn the DVD; note that it is BURN, not just copy so be sure to look for that option in the software. Totally, legally free.

Fantastic! A SASE and a pack of Rowntree's Fruit Pastilles from the UK will be included. PM sent. It's great when folks are that helpful!

Keeniaow, I'm probably too dumb to do all this.
