bramds
Most ridiculous thing are Triumph bikes. Made in Thailand, but in that free-trade zone, so not really Thailand, so you still pay the import tax. They should be more lenient to Thai people since they are being built here. Crazy country. ll2
I kind of assumed that import tax is 100%, unless there's a FTA. I don't know the facts / details though - would be interested to know myself. Other imports - which by now is basically BMW and a few Ducatis - seem to be 2x as expensive here as they are in the USA. I was basing my assumption that KTM is adding a hefty markup on the fact that the KTMs are significantly more than 2x US price. Your method of calculating max price is the same as mine & what I have seen on other imports. But that is not to say it is the tax as that rough calc includes the profit in that 100% markup. I was just wondering because I think the tax also goes by engine size. Maybe RichardBKK knows? Retail in India is 1.88lakh or 93,862 Baht http://www.zigwheels.com/newbikes/KTM/Duke/390-ABS every state in India has different prices though due to different regulations of each state. but yes, between 90 k - 110 k thb for KTM 390 duke in India. For taxes, all i know it is 100% - 110%. Edited November 14, 2013 by ll2

EBF
I wonder why we don't see any grey market ktm's here from India. It should make sense for some businesses to import them. They do have them. In fact they have now found an easier way to do so. They have a transporter take them from India to Cambodia. (They have an agent purchase in the buyers name & register the bike in India) Then the buyer from Thailand goes & rides them into Thailand from Cambodia & apply/receive a temp Thai registration. The only hassle being they need to renew every 6 months. Would you be able to permanently register them in Thailand if you pay import tax? Even at 100%, I'd consider a Duke 390 at around 220K Baht. mania
Has anyone on the board bought one of the 390s? None I have heard of. Have read a few Thai's boards that like the "Duke 390" but at 339k seems silly given what else is available at that price. But KTM here likes to think of itself as a "Ducati like" product of exclusivity ....silly but that is how it seems from their marketing via FB etc....RC-390's have not been here yet afaik If I were back Stateside I would grab one of the RC's no problem Switchable ABS....Others makers should take note 390 Dukes available even in CM Edited November 15, 2014 by mania
denkiblue555
In Australia the RC390 is AUS $8,295 - (US $7,258 / THB 238,456). Very disappointing pricing from KTM Thailand in general, but it doesn't look likely to change any time soon. Maybe these Chinese genuine replicas may make it in though if Richard can strike us a deal?? They go for about US 2k it seems.
