Sebaceous cyst

Featured Replies

I have just had one of these removed leaving a huge hole in my back, the cost was 6000฿ was examined and operated on within 30mins, I guess I will now always have a hole there, doesn't look very good but at least it's gone!

Did you have surgical removal or did they pull it our with laser cut/seal? I had a very large one removed by surgery many decades ago from leg and felt like a hole for a long time but actually was not and was fine. I had about 30 smaller removals a few months ago from back and neck and don't see or notice anything (but that was laser opening/removal/seal process). Always the chance some may return however.

It was a surgical removal hence the big hole, it's quite deep! Hope I don't get anymore!

It was at Phuket international hospital(Phuket, not far from Big C I'm not sure why they had to remove it leaving a Big hole, surely they can remove things through a small cut!

many years ago I had a large sebaceous cyst removed from my back; the doctor went thru 3 pairs of scissors hacking away all of the affected tissue as there had been a cyst there previously and the previous surgeon 'didn't get it all'...being in a bad place on my back between the shoulder blades the stitches pulled out and the wound opened and I went back to the doc who drained out the coagulated blood (he squeezed it and it looked like grape jelly...ee-yeww) before he cleaned it and replaced the dressing...

before he covered it he showed me a cavity in my back big enough to put my thumb in and I was alarmed...remarkably the cavity filled with scar tissue and now the scar just looks like an old skin lesion...so don't worry as what looks like a huge disfiguring wound will probably heal up nicely...

they never go away completely, ye know...in August I had a cyst (this time on my lower back) that actually got infected and I went to the hospital in Jeddah to have it removed; spent the Ramadan Eid holiday at home in bed to give the wound a chance to heal...the same old hacking away but this time they used a burning implement (laser?) during the procedure...I feel like a walking repository for 35 years of sebaceous cyst removal medical technology with local anaesthesia each time...

Cheers for that storey, I must admit to being shocked by the size of the hole, it's feeling better this morning, don't want to go through it again so hoping another one does not appear!
