#OhMyOlympus International Photo Competition

#OhMyOlympus is an international photo competition by Burufly.com (the largest Social Travel Site in South East Asia) sponsored by Olympus.



This is an international photo competition with South East Asia's destination photos to be submitted. The prize is Olympus Pen E-P3 camera.

How to participate?



1. Upload at least 5 photos of your favorite destination in Southeast Asia to http://goo.gl/35wTGj and add the hashtag #OhMyOlympus

2. Share your photo on Facebook and Twitter.

3. Our judge will select & shortlist 25 photos (5 photos per week) and place a watermark on them. The winner will be selected from the judge's shortlist.



The judge is Arbain Rambey.

Born in 1961, Arbain Rambey graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1988 with a Bachelors of Civil Engineering. One of his photography books, 'Indonesia, Mist of Time' was published by Waterous & Co. in London, UK, in 2005. Arbain has won several photography awards from national and international photo competitions, such as the Festival Seni International Art Summit 1999 where he was crowned the Sole Winner. Arbain also won two borne medals in a row in the 2006 and 2007 Lomba Salon Foto. In addition to working as a photographer in Kompas daily, Arbain also teaches in several universities such as Universitas Pelita Harapan, Universitas Media Nusantara, and the Darwis School of Photography. Arbain is frequently featured in various photography exhibitions, including solo exhibitions such as Expresi (Medan, 2002), Mandailing (Medan, 2002), Senyap (Bentara Budaya Jakarta, 2004), and Colour of Indonesia (Galeri Cahaya, Jakarta, 2004), as well as several collaborative exhibitions.





1. The 2013 Burufly Photo Competition #OhMyOlympus ends on November 26th, 2013 at 23:59:59 WIB. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BYNovember 26th, 2013 at 23:59:59 WIB. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these official rules (“Official Rules”). By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules.

2. Photographs must be in digital format. Only online entries will be eligible. All digital files must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG or .jpg format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).

3. Photographs may not previously have won a competition in any Burufly Photography Contest.

4. Photos are only eligibly submitted to the Contest if uploaded to Burufly since October 23rd, 2013. Photos that are uploaded to Burufly before that date and only added the hashtag #OhMyOlympus in the caption are not eligibly part of the Contest.

5. Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable; compositing is not acceptable.

6. The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.

7. One winner for this Contest will be selected from the shortlist of 25 finalists curated by the professional judge appointed by the Sponsor. Five photographs will be selected each week by the Sponsor throughout the five weeks of the Contest’s run, watermarked with the judge’s badge.

8. The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsor, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

9. Each entrant must be prepared to provide the original image file if requested upon winning. Failure to do so may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.

10. Entrants are responsible for complying with these Official Rules. Winners' names will be available online at http://goo.gl/35wTGj about one week after contest ends.

Rather sad that Olympus offers as a prize a camera that was discontinued a year ago...

Not that I'd ever win, because as recent events have demonstrated I'm incapable of winning a photo competition. But if I did that EP-3 would go to a budding young photographer from a poor background.

We can assume that by submitting your images, you also pass on the rights to them. Just think! You will my even get to see you image on Burufly.com, with no credit or compensation (although, one lucky participant may win a camera they had laying around).
