DVD Shops in Kad Suan Kaew Mall

Featured Replies

I have noticed several DVD shops in Kad Suan Kaew mall. I realize that most sell "reproductions". I am looking to buy one or more seasons of a TV series. Has anyone had any personal experience with any of the shops there (like the WUT shop) re; how willing they are to replace a DVD that you find does not work? If anyone has had personal experience returning DVDs to a shop there, I'd like to hear about the experience/recommendation.

Thank you in advance!!!

i go to the shop with the young guy selling, you can try them there first.

dvds dont usually have problems, its programs that are problemtic.

no problems in 2 years. I bought a blue ray DVD by mistake and they happily exchanged it.

I always check that the speech is in English and the text can be anything. Sometimes the speech has been dubbed by the same monotonous guy they use for almost all movies.

I'll add my 2 cents worth before the thread is locked, I always ask them to check each dvd before buying, I have had copies where the dvd worked on there player but not mine at home, I've taken them back and they have always replaced them with the same movie or another of my choice with no problem.

Thai visa doesn't work like that, the idea is to comment on things we know knack all about ,whether relevant or not.

...and if its the series of Fawlty Towers, doubt you can get it here.

The shop on the ground floor will replace DVD's that don't work. I have had a few of those. I think some players are more finicky about playing these copies. So frustrating to get halfway into the movie and have it jam up. And even if they play it and it works in the shop, doesn't mean it will play flawlessly for you when you get home. It's a crap shoot.

An alternative is the DVD shop on the ground floor at Airport Plaza. Their stuff always works because they are authorized disks. Of course, you aren't going to pick those up for 5/1000 baht get the 6th one free.

A third choice is a shop on the main floor at Pantip Plaza. Sort of in between the cutrate place at KSK and the "genuine" place at Airport. Nicer packaging, good selection, lots of Bluray, much cheaper than the bluray at Airport. Also lots of concert stuff and music. I haven't ever had a jamup with their discs.

Worst choice: buying on the street from the young business men who make the rounds of the bars and restaurants. These guys have an amazing selection of the latest stuff (all bootleg to be sure), and some of it plays ok. But some of it has been filmed inside movie theaters. You can see people's heads, as they are making their way to their seats.

Airport Plaza

Many times they have them running from 110 baht to 150 baht. Buy 5 get 1 free. They do have a limited selection of TV series for a year. If you have never been to the Airport mall the shop is on the ground floor next to the big aquarium. Have never had a reason to take one back there so I don't know what their policy is. Never asked them to play it for me either. So I don't know what their policy is on that either.

Have had to many bad DVD's at Pantip so I don't even bother to look at them any more. I think they get them from the same supplier as the street venders.

I'll probably try Kad Suan Kaew first since it's close to me.
