This has been going on for weeks. I have very little energy, appetite, I sleep way too much and I am nauseous daily. I do sweat quite a bit when I sleep. Where should I start trying to figure this out.

Thanks in advance.

Um........have you consulted a member of the medical fraternity? Or do you expect a more informed diagnosis by ill-informed TV contributors.

I humbly suggest you consult a doctor at one of the better hospitals in your area.

I thought I would get some ideas about what's going around the Pattaya area from the Medical Pros that are on this forum from time to time.

Also my food taste terrible. Everything seems bitter and then the nausea starts.

What about the $hits - have you got the $hits too?

How about a hangover -ever had one of those before?

Sounds like withdrawal! Stopped smoking recently? Laid off the crack or the smack?

Just throwing some ideas at you here - hold on; I'll get my medical dictionary (if I can find the bloody thing) and get back to you

Yes - go to a doctor. A systematic examination of your symptoms and their history, probably accompanied by blood testing is the only definitive way to get a diagnosis and some treatment. That is not difficult or expensive and the sooner you get medical help the better.

Posted

While viral illness will cause this they don't last for weeks.

Only things that come to my mind, assuming you are male, are dehydration/electrolyte imbalance and side effects of medications.

Are you taking any meds?

Posted

CFS features muscle aches and pains. What OP describes sounds more like a viral GI infection except for its long duration.

A blood count will indeed help determine if a bacterial or viral infection is present. A stool test may also be helpful, even in the absence of diarrhea

I see Gary hasn't responded to this thread for over 21 hours now. Is he cured? Has he gone to the doctors/hospital? Has he gone to see his mum? Has he gone on a binge? Is his internet connection goosed? Or - the....ultimate......question......croaked it?

There can be a number of reasons ranging from simple excessive phlegm caused by allergies onwards to serious infections, and I think you should collect your thoughts and see if you can post a more descriptive explanation.

Are you using air con at night? Nobody likes it but it appears to me that it is very important for you at this time because you need adequate rest.

Paracetamol is an inoffensive medicine which will help reduce a temperature.

They missed one. Brain tumor. Don't ask me how I know. The brain processes all of the signals sent from the ears, mouth, etc. etc. and decides what they are. Depending on which lobe is affected, different strange things can happen.

In my case, food tasted strange, music sounded out of tune, and I was dizzy and nauseated. Sometimes I didn't recognize familiar objects.

Fortunately mine was non-malignant and called a meningioma.

See a good doctor and get blood tests for poisons, allergy tests and if all fails, get an MRI.

I am feeling better today. I wanted to thank most of the people that responded. I made up my mind to go to a Dr Friday night and I just thought I would post and see what was going around Pattaya.

Thanks Sheryl. You answer makes the most sense to me. Neversure you are lucky. I am glad to hear it worked out for you.

Commander I would really like to meet you. If you don't know the answer to someone's question you should stay quiet.

It's off to BHP next week for one of their medical packages.

Glad to hear you're feeling better Gary. It seems to me that the advice you're thanking everyone for was 'go see a doctor'
