If you're on DTAC, just send *234*9# and wait for a "Service reply".

My reply says "<my number> for xx years xx months xx days. Get device discount 1,xx0 baht."

Just what this discount is, I don't know. Hopefully, a free top-up. w00t.gif.pagespeed.ce.fUUOmDCInI.gif

Edit:

OK, not free money, but discount. See here: http://www.dtac.co.th/en/device/reward-aou.html

I was told you must do it today, but now not so sure.

From the web site:

Use the period of staying with us as device discount on every mobile device model. Today – 25 Dec 2013.

How to calculate my discount?

1-month age of use equals 10 baht (up to 20 years or maximum 2,400 baht discount).

Simply check by dial *234*9# (free)

Where can I redeem my discount?

1) dtac service center nationwide Please contact service officer to get your discount code

2) Via online Online register to get discount code to use at dtac online store

Term & Conditions of redemption via dtac online store

1. Discount can be used with smartphones and tablets only. Premium products and aircards are not participating in this campaign.

2. The device price must higher than 1,000 Baht.

3. The device price must higher than discount amount.

Yep, me too. I get these funny looks from people who keep swishing their fingers over their phones and giggle when I get mine out.

It's only 9 or 10 years old:

About as old as my pick-up. sad.png

So, if I can find a cheap smart phone for about 1400 baht, I can get it for practically nothing. smile.png

Hmm, the Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo is about 3200 baht. Could get one for about half price, if they have them, of course.

Does this work for Happy Refill?

I got to the payment credit card page of online store but it doesn't ask for the discount code?

No. Totally let down and deflated today. sad.png

Firstly, it's a discount against buying a smart phone from DTAC - so you can't use it to refill.

Secondly, it's only a usable discount if you have a post-paid phone, not pre-paid.

Thirdly, if you want to change from pre-paid to post-paid you have to show two documents - your passport and a ******ing Work Permit! Who the heck wants to work here? Not me. So it's not good for retirees.

Of course, as with everything in Thailand, YMMV - your mileage may vary. Maybe I'll try a DTAC shop in Patong, but it's hardly worth the diesel.

Fourthly, they ran out of the cheap phones.

Guyz,

I don't know if its coincidence but after pressing that "key code" I have received since then 3 advertisement SMS

And this is strange as I normally don't receive any, so I had to call Dtac 1678 hotline again to block these Advertisements.

You dont get free money. blink.png

If you buy a NEW phone you get the discount of 10 baht for every month you have had a D Tac sim card

Better you read it all on their web page whistling.gif

I expect it's just coincidence....it's not like DTAC found out your number when you did the key code thing as they already have your number since you are their customer. As mentioned in my post above I did the key code thing on 2 Dec/yesterday....haven't got any SMSs since then...in fact the last SMS I've got was on 29 Nov.

it might be the locations you've travelled to - one DTAC service centre staff told me their system is set up for "location based advertising". if you're in a particular area interesting for whatever reason to an advertiser, you'll get spammed.

I always receive them at home (as that is where I normally am) and the last one I received was approx 3-4 months ago.

It's no problem as I just call 1678 and tell them to Block them, haven't received any since.

Thanks for the number! I usually go to the DTAC shop and badger and harangue them until they call someone to block the adverts! biggrin.png

I haven't had any for months, so don't think your ad's were linked to this discount offer.

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Neo for 1300 baht! The normal price was 2900 baht so I am happy and so is my daughter. I have had my number for nearly 13 years.
