Buying a touring bike in Chiang Mai?

Hi guys, can anybody point me in the right direction to buy a steel frame touring bike in Chiang Mai?

I had my eyes Surly and Dawes back home in Scotland.

Would be helpful to your cause to write bicycle as a motorbike is referred as a bike here. There is also a bicycle forum on Thaivisa which might be a good resource too.

^^ Both Surly and Dawes are well known bicycle manufacturers. Those who know about bikes would know. :)

I'd try Chaitawat in the old town, op.

I like Velocity, but I don't remember seeing any bikes with really long chain stays. or with the ability to hold panniers. steel frame is a great choice, but remember the likelihood of rust (sure you already did). anyhow, i would try craigslist and ask the guy at velocity about the thai bike classifieds. worst case, get a super cheap frame, put on some wider tires, pull a cart, and just beat it until you are done touring. i know a guy who did that for 400 miles and the only problem is in the fast descents.

Thanks guys, I found Velocity, the guy Tam in there was pretty helpful, he has an interesting Canadian, french sounding brand bike I forget, now Japanese, but made in China with a very good spec, but a bit on the wee side, I forgot to ask if he can get a larger one in, I'll go back.

A couple of the other shops I visited were closed yesterday.

Somebody from Seconhand Chiang Mai got in touch with one he's selling, which is not quite what I had in mind, but I'll check it out, it looks pretty good?

I'll try and find the cycling forum page too, cheers, I'm unfamiliar with forum's never really had to use them much at home. Or Craig's list?

Thanks again, much appreciated, have a great day y'all.
