Private sector vows to mediate conflicts

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Seven business organisations proposed a comprehensive reform before Thailand would host a new election, to prevent another crisis.

In a statement, the group said if conflicting points remain unresolved, an endless cycle of crisis would emerge.

"It’s highly essential that democratic reforms in political, social and economic areas as well as anti-corruption measures must be done before the election," it said.

While commending the government and the protesters for refraining from violent actions, it said the country needs solutions that would mutually benefit all parties not a particular group. It also noted that the House dissolution could not bring the country back to normal condition, as division has been deeply rooted.

It said that al Thais should have a say in the solutions.

The private sector is ready to gather proposals and opinions and to support any means to restore peace.

A working committee will be set up.

The group represents the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Bankers Association, the Tourism Council of Thailand, the Federation of Capital Market Organisations, the SET and the Listed Companies Association.

Good luck with that.

Lucks to me like 7 businesses who just want their banners and ads flying next to whatever protest stage is televised.

Yes, it's the good old Bangkok boys. No representation form the Thai south, norther provinces, and general everyday little people.

Ridiculous democracy is simple a Democratic government is elected by the people (all of the people) to govern the people in the name of all of the people all of the time. This I believe is what we have in the PM Yingluck Shinawatra,s government now which is possibly the best government Thailand ever had aside from that of her brother's 'Thai Rak Thai' party. What each of the governments offered the people is stability.

This they have done until another madman, separated from feeding at the trough, conspired to ruin Thailand's outstanding contribution to this country's peace, security and respect.
