Hi everybody,

Just want to check real quick.

Going tomorrow for the second application for a Dutch visa for my girlfriend. The first one she got successfully without problems.
The thing is.. I don't know exact when we will be going. If I write on the application form and make sure all the money is sufficient that we are going for let's say 20 januari to 20 februari.. Would that be 'oke' to do?
This means we have more time to decide what will best for us to leave, but making sure we can go any time in that period because my girlfriend already has the visa in her passport.. Otherwise making fast decisions would be impossible
regarding to the fact that she then first has to go through the application process.

Hope my question is clear enough!

Thanks,

F.

When applying for a Schengen Visa the applicant normally has to provide an itinerary, details of hotel bookings or a friends home as well as flight reservations, though it does advise against paying for flights and hotels before the visa is issued.

I'm not sure if they will accept a tentative date, when my partner applied earlier this year her visa was only valid for the dates that matched up to her planned travel arrangements, she had also visited previously.

Thanks for your answer.

I put in the date which I am sure of we won't be leaving yet.. The end date will be long enough for us to come back.. I am just planning to go 2 weeks, but would like to have about 2 weeks of room to schedule when to go. The reservation of the ticket I can obviosly present as the 1 month.. Just want to know if there is any problems when having a month visa, but only going for 2 weeks.. Would that cause a scene?

If your girlfriend applies for a month, your accommodation and flight bookings and accommodation will need to match up to that, your girlfriend will also need to provide evidence of funds for a one month stay and insurance cover for the duration on her application.

If after the visa has been approved you both only decide to stay for two weeks then she will not encounter a problem, travel plans do change.

When we went a couple of months ago we entered and left Schengen three times during the validity of the visa, and were not questioned once.

Thanks!

Yes I have lined up everything for that one month.

- The ticket
- Financial funds
- Insurance cover

So, I must be fine then? Insurance I can cancel anytime, that is no problem. Financial funds obviously does not really have any other function, the ticket is just a reservation/print out of ticket proposal.

That is 100% correct right?

Thanks for helping dude.

If you have the ticket lined up simply use the ticket dates. That will avoid confusion, and all confusion at embassies will end to your disadvantage.
