I can see many Hino 500 on the thai roads;

In Europe, when we have a number like these " 500 " we can think the truck is a 500 HP but here in Thailand, what to believe ?

so I went on internet and discovered that 500 is for 5 cylinders and not 500 HP laugh.png ( 240 & 260 HP ) ; fyi , I drived a Volvo F89 in 1973 ; 42 years ago !! : 330 HP

" The five-cylinder J07E engine is available in the 500 Series medium duty standard cab variants, and delivers more power and torque and better fuel economy than the six-cylinder engine it replaced. It is rated at 240 and 260 horsepower. "

Went past a sugar mill a week or so back and there were hundreds of grossly overloaded truck and trailer units parked waiting to be unloaded with more on the road to the mill.

The road to the mill on the left hand side was in terrible condition no doubt due to the overloaded trucks while the other side coming from the mill was in good condition.

Should go past again on Sunday, must stop and take some photos.

I think they ( thai who make roads ) must ( MUST ) go to Italy and have a look how italian engineer do ;

for example the motorway from Bologna to Firenze ; nearly all in the mountain, tunnels, high bridges, tunnels... clap2.gif

and in Italy the bigs trucks with 8 axles are more heavier than the biggest trucks in Thailand .
