Smuggled alcoholic drinks on the rise in Thailand

I gave up trying to find real Jonny Walker in Thailand about 5 years ago. Not to mention the number of Thais who work in night clubs, etc, that get hospitalized due to the fake whisky they drink. Thus why has this never become a news story? Let me guess?

I recall tales of a Bangkok-factory mass-producing counterfeit J.W.-Red, from when I first visited Thailand, more than 25 years ago.

The Pattaya beer-bars also used to make their own Irish Cream, from Thai-rum & Carnation & coffee/chocolate-flavouring, when the original bottle ran low ! rolleyes.gif

I stopped buying Johnnie Walker red, as it increased by 300 bt a bottle, and started drinking Blend Signature 285. After 6 weeks, i now have gastritis. The doctor told me to stop drinking and gave me medication to heal my stomach.

The higher tax is only going to increase the burden on the health system.
