Bakery in Nong Khai

Featured Replies

the other night i ate an amazing Cornish Pastie in a town not far from Nong Khai , the owners told me the Pasties and Pies were made in Nong Khai by somebody , no one could help me with a business name ...any NK locals have an idea who this business may be ? i need to stock up as they were amazing ....

Possible two options would be the Danish Baker on Meechai road and the German Baker also on Meechai Road. Traveling East on Meechai past the Nong Khai Hospital you will come to a 4 way intersection (no lights), about two blocks past this will be the first of the two (can not remember which one comes first). The second will follow about another 3 or so blocks farther.

There is also a very popular Thai bakery in the far East of town however I do not have any information on it. I hear they provide mostly donuts, breads and few other light snacks but it is for wholesale only.

As well there used to be Beer Billys at the far East of town on Rim Khong Road which has since closed up but the Thai Lady who made the pastries with her UK husband has also opened up another shop near the ST Apartments (I believe). They did make very nice meat pies.

There are now over 100 coffee and sweet pastry shops in Nong Khai so could have come from any number of sources but I suspect it would be the German or Danish Bakers.
