Need Battery for Laptop Asus Computer only works plug in to electric

Did anyone buy recently? How much are they?

Yes Harry is in Chiang Mai Cousi Leroy getting married their next week

Hi Harry, Laptop batteries are very expensive in Thailand, they are even

cheaper in UK where VAT is 20+%,

So your best bet is to buy from China, where they are all made, anyway.

try Aliexpress, google it, enter name model of your laptop, and you should

find a big choice, some even post free to Thailand.

regards Worgeordie

Check with Thomas at Invadeit - very good service and in Thailand so no problems

Have a look in Panthip Plaza is you best bet, if nothing there, Icon Plaza.

If all else fails, Ebay.

Have you tried cleaning the battery contacts ?

Happened to me once with my HP laptop.

The battery had become "invisible" to the laptop battery checker and could no longer be used and recharged. The laptop would only work plugged in to the mains.

I cleaned the contacts and all was good and no problem since.

Several shops in Fortune Plaza sell replacement batteries and laptop parts.

as posted above - not cheap. I was gobsmacked to shell out almost 3 K for an Asus battery.

I was quoted 5k for the battery on the liittle Asus I use as a second back up. The guy said 'we have china copy for 3k.' When I asked them if they were any good, he said 'no, maybe last six month.'

All laptop batteries are made in China. Some have your brand on them and some don't but they are the same, if they are rated the same AH.

I bought a new battery for an older IBM (Lenovo) laptop about a year ago for US$20 (650 baht) shipped and it has been fine. It was shipped from Hong Kong and was listed on Ebay US. It is generic, but the ad said it would fit my laptop and it does. I can see no difference between it and the original except it doesn't say IBM or Lenovo on it.

Try the free version of BatteryBar which will tell you how many cycles of you battery have been used, etc.

There is an official Asus Service center located here in Chiang Mai. If it's not under warranty, it won't be cheap, but at least it is the original equipment replacement and the parts come with a warranty.

It is located here:

+18°48'36.00", +99°0'37.08"

Just put this into google maps and it will show you the location.

Pantip Plaza - use the South side set of escalators. Once on the second floor, turn right and walk to the second set of shops. Most battery types carried there - quality is good and prices seem reasonable.

I brought one for 1700 baht 2nd floor Pantip Plaza. Hard to bargain

On eBay in America probably the same type for 750 delivered to address in America included.

Well I wonder what a Thai student will pay?

was it genuine or copy? How is the battery life so far?

Thinking of buying this one instead from back home http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180885997419&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123 as its marginally cheaper including postage (and I can always put a few of my belongings in with it). It's not a genuine one though.

I was going to buy one for mine from Asus and they quoted me a price and then refused to sell it to me as no stock and they would not get it in. Was angry for a while then bought one from china took a month but cost 25% of the Asus quote. Seems good too holds its charge well and no hotter than the old one.

It is unlikely you will recieve it as they are totally banned now for carriage by air. This follows several airplane fires due to them.

Please remember that BatteryBar only tracks your past use so is only usefull if you install it at the same time as you install a new battery.
