We would like to Inform you that the clinic landline is out of order once again! This is becoming a regular occurrence.

If you would kindly call the following mobile number (0827668672)instead of the landline.

We at HCMC would like to apologize for the inconvenience.

With Regards,

Thanks for the information.

Not familiar with the land lines here in Thailand. Is this a common problem with them?

Only had one problem with ours in 7 years and it's all I ever use. However it was a big problem in that when someone called us, the phone didn't ring but they were greeted with a high-pitched squeal that would take your head off if you had amplified ear set on, or calling from Skype or something. TOT was bewildered by the problem (we got a few laughs along the way from TOT) and it took them a full 5 days to figure out the problem and restore our service. Obviously we couldn't call out either. Other than that it is 100% reliable and cheap as chips (3.5 THB to call anywhere in Chiang Mai and talk as long as you like). Unlike mobiles which are cash cows for the providers.

Fifty year old copper in ground that floods regularly is never a great idea.

Like I said, 50 year old copper with sun and rain damaged insulation, strung between poles in the Tropics is never a great idea. whistling.gif

P.s. I'll bet you the wires go to ground somewhere in their travels.
