We married last month, we are waiting for our answer for uk spouse visa application.

My wife had to keep her surname as we didn't marry at her local amphur where she is registered. She has sent her passport to ukba which still has her original surname.

If we change surnane and get new id card.

Can she change her passport and travel to uk ?

does she still have to use original, as visas will be issued in that passport with that name?

If you sent her original passport to the UKBA, they will issue any visa/leave to remain in that name. If that means a residency card, you could change this, but it is supposed to be done within 6 months of the event (ie marriage) that lead to the change.

Personally, we went through the whole settlement process with my wife's original name and have only started down the name change route on applying for citizenship. Of course, when we started back in 2007, you still got things stuck in your passport, so it wasn't as easy then.
