Visas

Featured Replies

I have been living in Chiang Rai,Thailand for 3 years and each year I have been going back to the UK ( October ) and getting a 1 year visa from a Thai consulate.I am married to a Thai girl. I was not able to do this last year because they changed the rules which I couldn't financially fulfill so I got a 6 months visa, 3 entry, leaving Thailand every 60 days. I have done 2 Tachilek visa runs and my third and final one will be 23rd February after which I will have to leave Thailand and get a new 6 month visa from a Thai embassy/consulate outside of Thailand. I calculate that I must leave Thailand by April 23rd latest.

I will be visiting friends in Singapore, flying out of Thailand on May 11th.

My question is; can I make another Tachilek visa run before April 23rd and obtain a 30 day ordinary Thai tourist visa which will cover me until I can apply for a new 6 months visa whilst I am in Singapore. If the answer is yes then is the 30 day this tourist visa free?

I think what you call "a 30 day ordinary Thai tourist visa" is an visa exemption on arrival, which is only 15 days for a land border crossing.

I think there would be no reason why you would not be allowed to do two in a row though.

There is no charge other than the 500 baht arrival fee in Myanmar.

Being from the UK, which is one of the G7 countries, you will get 30 days at land crossings now.

Lowly Aussies like Scea, myself and Kevvy are only entitled to 15 dayssad.png
