EC pins hopes on meeting with govt

" Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul yesterday expressed dissatisfaction, saying that Somchai talked too much about the problems related to the election. Doing so might cause foreign countries to misunderstand the situation and lose confidence. "

Surapong's statement should be plastered in bold print on the front pages of every newspaper in the country, not because it merits it, but because it is so unbelievably stupid. The administration is constitutionally mandated to work with the EC. The Constitution Court reiterated that. And yet, what happened ? The EC still can't meet with Yingluck or other government officials ! And the EC's suggestion of a new election decree for the eight provinces left out, to be urgently responded to - made over a week ago - has not been addressed or responded to in any way to date ! The administration has been keen instead to dress the EC down through the media. And Surapong is continuing that tradition, with the ridiculous assertion that the EC is causing the international community to lose faith in the election. Hello ? The EC is trying to save your bacon. They are trying to keep your ridiculous administration in power. They are trying to provide you with a quorum. Unless you meet with the EC to find a solution for the eight missing provinces you are history. Savvy ?

Indeed that's how I see it too. With no election commission and a vote, PTP are toast.

EC pins hopes on meeting with govt

Chanikarn Phumhiran

The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- Election Commission chairman Supachai Somcharoen expressed confidence that the meeting between the EC and the government as well as academics tomorrow would create the circumstances to solve problems related to the election.

clap2.gifclap2.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif ."We still do it our way, we do it Pheu Thai way, we do it Thaksin's, we won't listen to anyone,... thank you, have a nice day, you cowards...wai2.gifwai2.gifwai2.gif

For you to call you own government cowards at this time strongly indicates that you may be a clinical sociopath.

To have so little compassion for what the members of government are going through these last months shows that you take pleasure in their distress or that of the Thai people. The whole Abhisit-Suthep conspiracy thing is a constitutional catastrophe that these two men actually planned knowing that it is against the interests of the Thai people and their democracy.

Election Commission knows who won seats already but won't say:

The Election Commission said election officials would count ballots and tally the results at each polling station following Sunday’s poll. Those results would then be aggregated at district offices across the country, but may not be announced individually until all the votes are in and counted.

So they know the results of seats already, but won't say.

This is a violation of the constitution:

Section 236. The Election Commission shall have the following powers and duties:

(7) to announce the result of an election and the voting in a referendum;

They have a duty to announce the result and no basis for withholding it.

For the House of Representaives to sit 475 seats = 95% of seats need to be voted on. However the election commission intends to withhold the result until 500 seats are filled:

The Election Commission said on Tuesday that it would have to continue organizing by-elections in problematic constituencies until all 500 members of the Parliament’s lower house are selected, which could take between three to four months

So 475 seats may be filled, yet the Election Commission would conceal thus preventing a government from standing?

The EC must face the truth that they are the problem with the election and no one else, asking for a 2nd royal decree is not required and does not conform to the requirements of the constitution. The EC is only trying to trap the government into actions that can be seen as a violation of the constitution!

As they do not attempt to hide the fact that they are the lap dogs of the rich and can only do as the rich orders them to do!

Cheers

Given that advanced voting has not proceeded properly or completely, and that advanced voting is for all constituencies, the EC can't release results until all the voting is complete.

475 seats can not have been filled, since there are 28 seats where there was no candidate. Don't you read the news?
