I just bought a brand new iphone 4s here in KPP yesterday.

This morning i seem to have a big problem in using my apartments free wi-fi. Whilst i have the retina ipad which connects perfectly well (as i am using it to type this) for some reason this brand new iphone 4s will not connect.

I have the wi-fi open and it comes up with the list of ones available which there are many for my same apartment, when i click on it and put in the password it just will not connect at all.

It just says something like "unable to connect to this and asks if i want to dismiss it?

I bought it from a verified shop, so it's not one of the many dodgy copies or fakes but it's frustrating that it will not connect to wi-fi......

Oh and i have the micro sim in it, AIS 3g but i only want to use the free wi-fi.

anyone out there have any bright ideas at all to help or is it just a case of taking it back to the shop as it's the first time i have even tried to use it?

Thanks in advance of anything.

A few possibilities that I can think of;

- Your wifi is 5ghz only, which 4s doesn't support yet. Although then I think you also wouldn't see the ssid in the networks list.

- you are making a mistake with the password. Easy to check by 'forgetting' the network on your iPad and connect again, prompting you to retype your password. If same password you use on the 4s works on the iPad, then that's not it. Also double check you don't have a different language keyboard in use. Some letters may look the same but actually be different.

- Either your 4s is not set to DHCP for your home wifi network, or it is, but your home network is not providing an IP, because it needs manual settings. Compare settings on your iPad and iPhone by pressing the little (i) next to the network name under settings/wifi.

- you may have setup a list of only allowed devices to connect in your router settings?

Oh and turn of your iPhone completely and restart it (hold power button until you get a slider to turn it off). So make sure you installed latest iOS, as there were some issues with wifi connection in certain earlier releases.

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Well, after lots of searching and searching online i finally found a solution....and a very simple one at that.

All i had to do was "reset network settings" and hey presto, it worked!! It now connects no bother.

I was worried as i was reading about hundreds of complaints about iphone 4s having a major problem once ios7 was introduced and wondered if i also had one of the faulty phones but alas it is all good now,

thanks anyway,.
