kamahele Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I wish her all the best on her future endeavors, whatever they will be.
BuddyPinkham Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Meanwhile the US embassy tweeted, "US ambassador Kristie Kenney won't be leaving her posting until later this year and remains very focused on her responsibilities in Thailand." The only responsibilities that she seems to have is ANOTHER PHOTO OP~! What an embarrassment to the USA! 1
SOTIRIOS Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 ...just for the record.....the Thais themselves tell it differently.....(...a Thai woman was speaking very passionately about this topic to me yesterday..)??? ...they say they have a lot of details and instances where she has openly sided with the S******** clan......??? ...personally, I don't know what she might have done to have snubbed them.....???
Professor Kevin Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 She has openly sided with election winners. I'm sure she was repulsed when Suthep stated he has no respect for foreigners and insisted there will be no international election observers overseeing the polls. Vote buying is the only excuse the Dems have for losing over and over and over again and she is tired of hearing it. 1
sbk Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Her predecessor was replaced early wasn't he? Something about arranging a meeting with Khunying Potjaman or someone for a visiting bigwig from the State Department when Abhisit was PM. As stated earlier, with a link to the relevant news item his 17 year old daughter died in an accident and he returned after that. Lets do try to keep this thread relevant, thanks
sbk Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Off topic post deleted, lets do try to keep this relevant thanks.
shiok Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 The rich elite establishment believe everyone should do their bidding , The US government is not the EC or Courts, they belong to a Democratic government that knows how to abide by the Rule of Law, in the US your baht isn't worth more than a farmers Baht! Cheers one wonders why have a US embassy here if Thailand is so "worthless?" moreover what are you doing here??
Stan7444 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 This is clearly a file photo, and not a good one. People who are reading more into it than that are fools. The photo might be from one of the annual US 4th July Picnics when she might have been pitching in to help serve up all of the great food just like executives from large US companies do as well. Nothing wrong with this. 1
diehard60 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 The American government always sides with an ELECTED government, not an appointed one.Because they are a democratic country and believe in democracy not a dictatorship.

Nothing wrong with this. I met her. She's real. Slackers don't get US Ambassador positions. She has a charming, sweet, folksy disposition but she does carry a big stick, no doubt about it. 1
mrtoad Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 The American government always sides with an ELECTED government, not an appointed one.Because they are a democratic country and believe in democracy not a dictatorship. Rather ironic, considering some of the USA foreign policy initiatives over the last 50 or 60 years.
Popular Post Publicus Posted February 25, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 25, 2014 Meanwhile the US embassy tweeted, "US ambassador Kristie Kenney won't be leaving her posting until later this year and remains very focused on her responsibilities in Thailand." The only responsibilities that she seems to have is ANOTHER PHOTO OP~! What an embarrassment to the USA! You pal are a self-embarrassment because you need to learn something minimal about international diplomacy, geopolitics, foreign domestic politics, crafting an image. Your avatar presents a mask and now I see why. Amb Kenney at age 58 is a sharp cookie, too rich for you.. Yes, Amb Kenney is on television cooking, engaging in televised dance contests, using Twitter and UTube to unprecedented extents for an ambassador, scuba diving, raising money for charities and, yes, yes, doing plenty of photo ops. She and her ambassador to Columbia husband haven't any children so she has lots of time to do her job - whatever her job may be. Before her three ambassador posts (not 4) Ms Kenney was a member of the the White House National Security Staff, was US Political-Military Liasion Officer to Nato, and was director of the State Department Operations Center. Prez Obama successfully nominated her ambassador to the former LOS and she is being talked up in this region and in Washington to be ambassador to S Korea. Before coming to Thailand Ms Kenney was ambassador to the Philippines where she deftly implemented the US policy of supporting then Pres Gloria Macapal Arroyo against repeated active coup attempts. I'd noted in a previous post that during her term in Manila, Philippine troops with U.S. military "advisors" eliminated several militant Islamic rat's nests on several jungle islands. Thailand and the Philippines are each US security treaty allies in the region. Amb Kenney first earned the animosity of Thai yellows when she sent the embassy's Consul General Officer to the 2011 lese majeste trail that resulted in US-Thai citizen Joe Gordon / Lerpong Wichaikhammat getting 2.5 years in prison, shortly afterward pardoned by the King. Consul General Elizabeth Pratt had said Gordon "was given the severe sentence for his right of expression" for having published in the United States. "We continue to respect the Thai monarchy but we also support the right of expression which is internationally recognized as a human right." http://www.freedomhouse.org/article/us-citizen-joe-gordon-sentenced-under-thailand%E2%80%99s-lese-majeste-laws#.UwxZWp2S1dg Ambassadors everywhere have to take the heat so that direct relations between leaders can continue to be cordial. The following year Prez Obama during his visit to Thailand was granted a royal audience with the King with Ambassador Kenney present. 4
