Has anyone done this trip. Taking the Thai wife and daughter to disneyland/disneyworld in Hong Kong, and if so, can you please give me a feel for the overall trip, prices for say four star hotels, and places to stay, things to do, outside of the disney adventure.

Greatly appreciate any and all input in advance.

They may be expensive but it worth staying at one of the Disney hotels during your time at Disneyland and stay elsewhere in HK for the rest of the trip. Thai GF and daughter loved it, especially the buffet dinner. I stayed 2 nights and there was a buy one get one free ticket for the park, meaning we split the Disney trip over two days. Ocean Park is also worth a visit if theme parks are your thing.

As for other attractions, there will be much better qualified people than me to help.

There are many packages that combine flights, transportation and staying in Kowloon or on Hong Kong Island for two or three nights with two or three nights staying in one of the Disney hotels by the park.

There are so many tourist attractions you could stay a couple of weeks and have no time to rest. The Peak, Madame Tussauds, arial ropeway, the harbours, shopping (HK expensive), etc, etc - even pop over to Macau for the day.. Google HK Tourist Sttractions and take your pick. It will lead you into package deals aswellas sights to see.

Two "musts".

When visiting DisneyLand park, stay at a Disney hotel. They have so much "added value" and convenient for going back to the park one evening for the fireworks display Also hotel trainees should work for them to discover what "customer service" means. We stayed in the Disney Hollywood which through-out the day runs Disney-based activities to give mum and dad a chance for a break and should the kids decide to use the pool at 8 in the evening, there's a good chance that Goofy or some other character will turn up to join them.

The other "must" is go in the October school holidays and do Disney on weekdays. Thailand seems to be the only country in the world that has a schools break in October. DisneyLand is deserted then. You can go on and off the rides at will. At the weekend the mainland Chinese can swamp the tourists spots in HK.

Enjoy !

We did this trip a few years ago with our son, who was 10 years old at the time. He loved it.

We did a package deal with Cathay Pacific - flights, three nights in the Disney Hollywood Hotel, transfers and park entrance for two days. I can't remember the cost - probably not relevant now anyway.

The hotel was excellent, with a lot of Disney themed stuff, as you might expect. We went to the firework display on one night but found that we could see it just as well from our hotel room! If you go in October the park puts on special Halloween-themed attractions - scary!

Hong Kong proper is about 30 minutes away on the MTR - lots of stuff to do there- Star Ferry; Peak Tram; Stanley Market; Ocean Park and much more.

A little closer to the Disney Park is the cable car to the Big Buddha on Lantau Island - highly recommended and a complete contrast to the frenetic activity of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.

If you intend to spend some extra time in Hong Kong, after doing the Disney thing, you could do worse than stay at the Salisbury Hotel in Kowloon. This is 4* , is right on the Kowloon water front and is exceptional value for Hong Kong. It's actually classed as a Youth Hostel but don't let this put you off - you don't have to sleep in dormitories or anything like that and you don't need to be a member of the YHA to stay there. It's right across the road from the Peninsula - same views at 10% of the cost!.

We did it a few years back and like the post above booked Cathay and their package, the kids loved the hotel and we could rest for the evening show, well worth it for the kids to see the fake snow.

I've seen HIS travel offer packages at their travel shoppes, I don't recall the prices.

If you're looking for a mid range hotel, not a 4 star and not Disney, it's a great location and is self catering, it's our regular spot but book early.

Was in DIsney Hong Kong two weeks ago, on a weekend.

not sur eho wold your kids are? ours are 5 & 3

I like to say "Drove the kids wild, drove us nuts!"

Agree with staying at a disney hotel.

Thing that surprised me is that there is a subway MRT station about 50 metres from the gate to the park. so you can stay anywhere really, but the hotel has the better arrangement - you can get two dble beds in a room.

We couldn't find a package, so booked air asia and direct with the hotel.

our kids were good for a day and a half, then we found the lining up a second time for the same ride a bit boring.

please note that the food in the park is utter crap. french fries is your best option, i couldn't believe it. so….take your snacks for the kids.

take a stroller as hiring them is quite dear.

the park is only 15 mins by can from the airport.

if theres anything else specifically you want to know feel free to ask.

So does anyone have any links to these package web sites. I am at a loss to find even one.

Also, the names of some of the "disneyland" park hotels would be greatly appreciated. If I book online I am going to want to make sure it is truly a disneyland park hotel. That way, barring getting package I can just make flight and hotel reservations separately. Need to know names of hotels though to accomplish this. Thanks so much in advance.

Help and all info received is all greatly appreciated as it will be our first time in Hong Kong and a really wanting to make it a special trip for my Thai wife and 7 year old daughter.

OK guys, I found the Cathy Pacific site. I had not heard of it as it appears to be a hong kong based airline. I must be mentally handicapped though as it only seems to want me to schedule either flight, or package flight "from' hong kong. It does not seem to let me change the origin of the flight to BBK and then flying round trip to hong kong and back to BBK.

What the heck am I doing wrong here???/

Shoot, forgot to add.

Could still use the names of some of the Disneyland based hotels some have referred to. Would love to ensure that I get one that is right at the park. Esp important if I cannot figure out the "package tour" route and simply book flight and hotel separate.

Thanks and God Bless You all for your help

Sawadeka,

Learn to use Google and put in

hong kong disneyland package tour thailand

In other words "I want to know about HK DisneyLand packages out of Thailand". Leave out Thailand and it will tell you about all from around the world.

When we went 4 years ago we used AprilTravel which does get listed but I see they haven't updated Disney package prices for a number of years. However, they did give good service and modified the package to include extra days and events as we wanted. This enabled us to be very much aware of closer to the total cost before you book rather than making commitments without other of other areas remain unknown.

You must be on the HK site. Try here http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_TH/latest-offers/packages.html for the Thai site.

We also had the Cathay package some years ago, was good. Don't take the city-tour in HK, they bring you to jewelryshops and copy copy disney merchandise in illegal outslets where they even lock the door behind you.

Also the lightshow in the harbour is nothing special. Kowloon nite-market was OK, just walking around also. Lin Ping on the mountain with the cable-cart is OK and the disney park is great. Go for the jungle boat ride.

If you don't want to eat in Disney then go to Yamazaki bakery first and buy a lot to bring, in HK yamazaki is even much better then in THailand.

Our family did this trip about a year ago. Me, the Mrs and our 5 and 6 year old girls. It was a wonderful trip. Kids still talk about it. We stayed in Kowloon at http://www.agoda.com/prudential-hotel/hotel/hong-kong-hk.html and took the MTR (station was a 1 minute walk from hotel) pretty much everywhere including Disney, which was about a ½ hour. I like the freedom of a hotel outside Disney with many, many places to eat, and a 7-11 10 meters in any direction. We did 2 full days at Disney and another 3 days around Hong Kong. Star Ferry over to the island is a must, you can get a city bus from the ferry terminal to The Peak, than take the tram down. We had a nice sunny day, and ended up with some great pics. We took this Grayline Tour http://www.grayline.com/tours/hong-kong/360-lantau-explorer-tour-5859_8/#.UxfK3K1WHiM it was really good. Kids enjoyed it too. We also went to the ICC Tower, which has a large shopping center connected to it. When we were there, they had a really nice kid’s area set up. The kids got to color post cards, and then send them to anyone, anywhere they wanted, and all for free. Hong Kong is a great city, with lots of things to do.

I had shopped for a package too, but ended up putting everything together myself. It ended up being a bit cheaper.
