BANGKOK: -- A member of the Redshirts has been beaten and left to die in a river east of Bangkok by a group of anti-government militants, police reports claim.

The police said in a statement that Mr. Yuem Villa was found near Bang Pakong River by locals in Chachoengsao province few days ago.

He was reportedly sent to Bang Pakong Hospital where he is still being treated for his injuries.

According to the police, Mr. Yuem identified himself as a security guard and a member of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD). He is also described as a native of Uttaradit province and an employee of Lohakij Auto Parts Import Company in Bangkok.

Mr. Yuem reportedly said he was relaxing in Lumpini Park on the morning of 24 February when he was approached by a pair of anti-government protest "guards".

The guards allegedly belonged to the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD), which has been organising rallies in the vicinity of Lumini Park.

Police reports claim that PCAD guards searched Mr. Yuem and found a UDD membership card which was issued in 2010. Upon the discovery, the PCAD guards allegedly escorted Mr. Yuem to a tent where a PCAD core leader, Mr. Issara Somchai, interrogated him and several guards physically assaulted him.

Mr. Yuem was reportedly detained in the tent until 1 March, when, according to the reports provided by the police, the guards tied his hands and feet and placed him into a car.

The guards allegedly drove Mr. Yuem to a bridge over Bang Pakong River on Bangna-Trat Road and proceeded to drop him into the river, with his feet and hands still bound by ropes.

However, he was promptly rescued by a group of locals who were on a boat nearby, the police said.

Medical workers at Bang Pakong Hospital said Mr. Yuem suffered bruises on his body while his lung was also damaged.

The police say the investigation is ongoing.

Reports of violent acts and intimidation committed by PCAD guards have been circulating in the media in recent weeks. Some of the guards are believed to be armed.

If anyone has the picture from a Thai website showing a real murder by a red shirt of a PDRC member who really was hogtied, really was thrown in the water and his body was really recovered, dead, then this is the time to show it. I cannot find it.

The police didn't mention that murder at all, no photo's of that murder across all the newspapers. Not a word mentioned by the police.

When it is a fake UDD member or a UDD member in a fake scenario the POLICE or as I like to fondly call them thaksins little helpers are there to get the statement, show the world the photo's. Seems a bit like the Akeyuth murder case. Maybe Akeyuth's driver did this!!!

>Man is beaten half to death by fascist thugs

> Half of Thaivisa engages in a ridiculous red-vs-yellow pissing match.

Man is allegedly beaten half to death ... but I agree on the 2nd part..

But until further evidence is forthcoming ..we don't know exactly what happened .. the whole story sounds strange. A red shirt card carrying guard is relaxing on a Monday morning 30 minutes travel from work. In the middle of the opposition camping rally spot..!

Should be easy enough to find out if the guy has actually been missing from work.

I hope he gets well soon.

Allegedly, reportedly, according to the reports, claim, are believed to.....yet another excellent piece of journalism by red shirt propaganda paper khaosod. Let's give the red shirts on TV their 5 minutes of pleasure to b*tch about the PDRC guards and the thug Suthep. The story will soon be proven to be bs, as is always the case with Khaosod...

UDD member with membership card relaxes in the middle of a PDRC protest. B*llshit.

What is more believable is the red shirts beat their own up member up to garner sympathy and demonize the PDRC. The succession banners where a very bad move by the terrorist wing so this is to demonize the peaceful protesters.

Notice it is the police taking the statement as well. So where are the locals? Where is the CCTV footage. Especially the footage of the PDRC dropping this guy into the water while witnesses where watching on only for the witnesses to take the person out of the water while the PDRC watched on. Oh, the gullible will lap this us as gospel now. They will use this link for months and say "well look at what Suthep did" Fuel for the flames of the propaganda machine. Just watch the demonizing.

In reality though the UDD really are terrorists by name and nature. Can't believe they would beat their own up now as well as kill innocent children. Though, who would be surprised when their leader is an accused mass murderer, accused terrorist, convicted criminal fugitive...

I pity the innocent UDD supporters in Thailand the most as they are fueling the flames of this regime.

The people that believe this bullshit story must be the same people that believed the Dr. John Brinkley story. P.T. Barnum comes to mind with his quote "There's a sucker born every minute".

Dr. John Brinkley made millions of dollars convincing people that having goat glands surgically inserted into them would make them young and cure almost anything. Turns out—surprisingly—they don’t do any of that.

Sadly, barely newsworthy these days as it happens so frequently. Just more to add to the overwhelming evidence that PDRC employs the scum of the earth as guards. We all know that.

Selective and one sided as usual. We can't even confirm if this is true. Only content showing what the non-red group has 'allegedly' done.

Got the balls behind that keyboard to bring up the 2010 rented mobs, and the slew of videos of assault and killings, 27 buildings burned, molotovs, M 79s stealing weapons from soldiers and killing them, phayao rouge, korat soil warriors, killings in trat?

Beaten to within an inch of his life and then thrown in to a river for being in the wrong place and being one of the many people who joined the Redshirts to fight for democracy the last time PTP were overthrown by the courts.

When grenades were being thrown we did not know for sure who was throwing them, this man knows who beat him and held him for a week before the attempted murder.

Of course, as you well know, the Red shirts have been attacking opposition members for years.

One anti-govt person was tortured and beaten to death and of course there was the assassination of Suthin.

Seems the overwhelming evidence has nothing to do with one side employing 'the scum of the earth'.

Scum for hire is part and parcel of politics in Thailand.

While, on the other hand, UDD, employs, only the best, upright citizens in Thailand, to demonstrate, throw grenades, and kill, for them, for only 500Baht a day.

Do we all know that also?

Also shows what can happen when you play with the big kids...
