Dating a younger Thai girl - or why I love Thailand.

Maybe I've been in Thailand too long. When I first moved here, I thought old men with young Thai girls was pathetic.

In the last few months, girlfriends were averaging from 30 - 35 years old (I'm 42). For the most part, it was okay but several things stuck out.

They all had emotional baggage from past relationships, which they could not drop. I don't want to hear about how someone's ex always cheated or how he still emails, hoping for a freebie on his annual Thai sex holiday.

Secondly, you realize just how many lonely, desperate and wealthy men live in Thailand. The texts about offering money for companionship and gifts sent is just plain stupid. If you have to buy her affection, aren't you some kind of loser?

Anyways, I now date a gorgeous and sexy 25 year old office worker. Its amazing how you just have to date a slightly younger age group to do away with all the past cheating farang emotional issues and excess baggage that the older girls bring to the table.

I couldn't care less if people stare at me as I worked my ass off for 20 years in the Arctic and deserve a good lifestyle today, including a young, gorgeous girlfriend. Maybe I'm just justifying the 17 year difference but if I was a sports celebrity or movie star, no one would care less. The odds of me ever having a girlfriend back home of this caliber is about zero %.

Is there really anything morally wrong about dating a much younger girlfriend inThailand? For me, it feels great but so many people have real issues about it.

I am 67 my wife 41.

I am very happy being with her and she is happy being with me.

I don't give a moments thought about what other people say about age difference.

I wish I had discovered Thailand a long time before the 7 years I am here.

As I type she has just finished sweeping, dusting and moping my entire home. It is her day off. She has a degree and works for a big company.

The older you get the less the age difference means BUT there are those out there (and I say more power to them if they're happy) where the age difference is 40 or more years! Hey...for some in their twilight years ...if they're happy...why not?

One of the things I love about Thailand is when I go to the mall and see all the pretty young girls ....THEY ALL SMILE back at me!

In the States if I smiled at some pretty young girl she'd be in my face calling me a "dirty old Man" and then probably call security or the police.

First off all, there is no such thing as moral here. The term ''moral'' is a western thing. Asians, and particularly Thais, do not have this concept of moral like we Westerners do. Wait, I am wrong, Asians do have morals, but not the same way Westerners have ie. not about age. There is no moral or principle about that.

Hardened Soul, you must have missed me. Not utterly devastating back home; its just nature. Same reason the weaker or older bulls in the herd will never breed. Easy for me to breed back home but that would imply someone closer to my age and likely somewhat of a heifer. Not for me and that's why I worked hard in order to retire here and breed hot girls with lower standards.

I would think its somewhat of a natural adaptation to your environment. Work hard back home, make lots of money and yet because of the laws of nature, you will not be allocated a young, beautiful and sexy girl. Not your fault as you are born that way and girls at home aren't looking for a muffle aged, short and bald guy, regardless of his personality. Move here and its paradise for someone like me.

Yes, I slagged off money hungry girls because its was a natural phase where many people have to go through after moving here. Bar girls, then part time freelancers, than normal girls looking for a little extra and finally after learning Thai, meeting normal girls who are not turned off by guys with my physical shortcomings.

In fact, I asked her that very question about people laughing yesterday (right after our joint HIV testing at the Red Cross clinic (results in under an hour for 200 baht) - nice place for a date if you're the caring kind.

She said she doesn't care as she's happy and who are they to judge. Pretty fair answer. I would think love has a better chance to occur when someone isn't carting around Thai bred spawn, a greedy, lazy, alcoholic family back in Isaan and an iPhone with 200 former "sponsors".
