Five arrested with crystal meth and 700,000 speed pills

CHIANG RAI, 23 March 2014 (NNT) -- Anti-narcotics police confiscated more than 30 kilograms of crystal meth and 700,000 speed pills in an operation in the north of Thailand on the weekend.

Acting on a tip off, police followed a pick up truck on the highway between Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai to a meeting point with others in a suspected drug supply chain.

Police arrested all five suspects when they observed the men helping each other transfer the packs of elicit drugs to another vehicle.

During an interrogation, the five men confessed to being hired by a Hmong gang for 480,000 baht a person to transport illegal drugs to clients in Bangkok.

Putin ready to attack Ukraine any time: Kiev security chief

KIEV - Russian President Vladimir Putin's troops are ready to attack Ukraine at any time, Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council chief Andriy Parubiy warned on Sunday.

"The aim of Putin is not Crimea, but all of Ukraine... His troops massed at the border are ready to attack at any moment," Parubiy told thousands of demonstrators gathered in central Kiev.
