BANGKOK: -- Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban today (Tuesday) dismissed as completely groundless the claim by caretaker labour minister Natthawut Saikua that he had met with some potential candidates for the post of interim prime minister.

Natthawut, also a key leader of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, told a press conference Monday that a handful of people had been approached to be candidates for interim premiership in case caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is forced out of the office.

The potential candidates include privy councellor Palakorn Suwannarat, former army chief General Prawit Wongsuwan, former prime minister Anand Panyarachun and former Bank of Thailand governor M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula.

Suthep said that Natthawut did not have any credibility and the latter’s claim was fabricated and was intended to discredit those he mentioned as potential candidates.

He insisted that the objective of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee remains unchanged – that is to demand the resignation of the prime minister. This is not the time to discuss about an interim prime minister, he added.

Suthep today led a procession march through Petchburi, Asoke and Sukhumvit roads to encourage Bangkokians to join a mass procession scheduled this coming Saturday.

Well I'd have thought that Suthep would indeed have had a meeting with a potential new Prime Minister, same with the PTP/UDD I'd have thought that would have been in the interests of both parties doing the dick measuring as to speak to candidates..

Suthep hammers Nattawut for naming suspected candidates for neutral Prime Minister

BANGKOK, 25 March 2014 (NNT) - The People’s Democratic Reform Committee's leader Suthep Thaugsuban says he will not negotiate with the Pheu Thai Party.

Before staging a rally this morning, Suthep Thaugsuban, the leader of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, or PDRC, said to the press that he would by no means take part in any negotiation with the Pheu Thai Party.

If negotiations were to take place, it would have to be done on a one-on-one basis with Prime Minister Yingluck and must be televised live across the nation, said Suthep. He firmly stated that the PDRC wanted a reform to be completed before an election was to be held, adding that hosting another general election would be pointless, given most Thais had already exercised their rights not to vote. This was clearly evident in the March 23rd senatorial election held a few days ago, in which only a handful of people cast their votes.

Regarding Nattawut Saikuer, the Deputy Commerce Minister and red-shirt leader’s exposing the names of people waiting in the wings to be a neutral prime minister, Suthep said it would not be possible as no one had been approved by the general public. A neutral prime minister could not be appointed until the PDRC uprooted the Thaksin regime and the Premier left the office first.
