webfact
DSI To Probe Suthep's 'People Coup' SpeechBy Khaosod EnglishAnti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban gives speech to demonstrators with a cardboard cutout of his likeness in the foreground, 5 April 2014BANGKOK: -- The Division of Special Investigation (DSI) will seek legal action against anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban for publicly vowing to launch a "People's Coup" against the government. DSI Chief Tharit Pengdith said the officials are already transcribing the footage of 5 April rally organised by the People's Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) in which its sec-gen, Mr. Suthep Thaugsuban, delivered a fiery speech concerning his plan to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.Mr. Suthep has said he would install himself as a "Sovereign Body" and present his own list of Prime Minister and Cabinet members to His Majesty the King to seek his Royal Approval. The PCAD will establish unelected legislative bodies afterwards, he explained, and implement series of "reforms" in Thailand. He called his effort a coup by the people, as opposed to coups launched by the military in the past.According to Mr. Tharit, Mr. Suthep's speech risks violating Article 113 of the Criminal Codes, which prohibits any attempt to illegally overthrow democratic regime either by violence or by coercion."It is clear that Mr. Suthep's speech to the demonstrators reveals his intention to overthrow democratic regime," Mr. Tharit explained. He added that the remarks will be used as evidence against Mr. Suthep in the court; the protest leader is already facing a separate charge of insurgency filed by the authorities. The DSI will also consult with the Centre for Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) to seek legal guidance on how to further prosecute Mr. Suthep for his speech, Mr. Tharit said.Source: http://en.khaosod.co.th/detail.php?newsid=1396852539§ion=11 -- Khaosod English 2014-04-07

WoopyDoo
The DSI are still trying to get him on the same old charges that they already attempted several times already. Another interesting Khaosod article. They are still the only idiots publishing this junk based on their equally junk article yesterday. If they want to push the envelope it is up to them, but when they join forces with the DSI who are going to be one of the first organisation to be taken out, they all may actually find themselves in court for defamation. Khaosod now seem to be resigned to the fact that they are to be closed down in the next month, and seem to be doing all they can to fight it. virtualtraveller
Suthep needs to shut his mouth. He's handing the reds all the evidence they need to start a civil war. They've been waiting for a coup or neo-coup for ages. All the same, if he did pull a coup off the first favour he can do the country is arrest Tarit and detain him indefinitely. Several posters had already watched the speech and confirmed that it contained none of this rubbish, and a link was also posted to a video of the speech that brought in even more confirmations. The DSI will have seen the speech themselves which means that they probably not even investigating it and this is yet another attempt at Khaosod, (which we all know is openly funded by Thaksin) at undermining the PDRC on the command of the man in Dubai. I actually feel sorry for them, because once Thaksin's puppets have lost all control, Khaosod will be left to take the rap... But then again,... when you shake hands with the devil.

sae57
Looking through the Thai language press, including Khaosot, seems the only thing new from Suthep's mouth is the use of a word, being translated "sovereignty", that has historically been used to justify military coups. I.e. the sovereignty of the people over the government. --S

Bet DSI won't bother with any of Jatuporn's inflammatory remarks, afet all there's no double standards. Of course. Now Tarit doesn't decide which cases to take up and which to ignore - there is supposed to be a process for that. Interesting that PTP caretaker Ministers and red undemocratic appointed leaders can openly applaud the murder of innocent children and call for armed rebellion and treasonable sedition by calling for a breakaway state; openly incite people to ignore the law and indeed be ready to fight against court decisions they don't like (nothing to do with right/wrong, evidence or justice) and in some cases break their bail conditions openly and often. Tarit doesn't bother with minor stuff like that. He's busy probing into those awful people who dared to blow a whistle near the vastly wealthy ex wife of Thaksin. No double standards here. Just another example of the fascist police state the Shin would love to create. As long as they're in charge of course. And Poo is just so worried she's not allowed to call witnesses galore delay, and delay and delay the NACC.

It also means that candidates will be able to promote themselves without being chased out of town or for voters to meet & listen with any candidate without being harassed & threatened.
