May holidays

Featured Replies

Is Koh Kong likely to be busy for the public holidays mid May. ?.

Also is the immigration going to be begging for extra charges on a holiday?.

thanks

Busier than usual, yes, but I think not too terribly so (as opposed to places like SHV and Kep which may be packed).

I haven't heard of immigration "rent seeking" increasing on ordinary public holidays. Before the Khmer New Year and P'chum Ben yes (robberies also spike then), but not likely before the Kings B-day in May. The former entail increased household expenditures but not the latter.

I would think the Lexus driving PP people would like to get out of the traffic jams with a weeks vacation. Try that 2nd gear.

hi..

Hectic than regular, yes, but I think not too really so (as compared to locations like SHV and Kep which may be packed).

I have not observed of migrants "rent seeking" improving on common community vacations. Before the Khmer New Season and P'chum Ben yes (robberies also raise then), but not likely before the Leaders B-day in May. The former include improved family expenses but not the latter.

Found a nice hotel then on the 3rd day a PP bus full of people turned up - about 30 kids. Sounded like a riot for about an hour. Then never heard from them again. They blocked the road with the bus which seemed to be ok.

Why is Koh Kong like it is and why is it more expensive than other Cambodian towns?.
