UDD to stage mass rally on May 6

BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship will stage a mass rally on May 6 – one day ahead of the Constitutional Court’s anticipated ruling on the status of caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

UDD chairman Jatuporn Promphan said today (Thursday) that he expected the Constitutional Court to hand down its ruling on May 7 and, if there are no changes, a mass rally would be staged one day earlier at Utthayarn (Aksa) road in Wattana district, Bangkok Metropoilis.

Jatuporn maintained that the mission of the UDD was to protect democracy and to prevent the country to descend into political vacuum which would justify the implementation of Article 7 of the Constitution for the appointment of a non-elected prime minister.

He assured that the mass rally would be peaceful and there would be no bloodshed, saying that he hoped the rally would attract a large following.

he hopes.....so no more silly promises of 500,000?

and why the need to specify that it will be peaceful, and there will be no bloodshed?

Once again, dear red shirts, you have every right to rally against whatever injustice your tiny little minds deem there are. As long as you don't burn anything down...

This is not really a rally, its a pre-emptive protest against an imminent judicial coup

Oh, change the record already ... lol

" Jatuporn maintained that the mission of the UDD was to protect democracy and to prevent the country to descend into political vacuum which would justify the implementation of Article 7 of the Constitution for the appointment of a non-elected prime minister. "

So just for the record, Jatuporn does not want the Constitutional Court to consider implementing something that is already in the Constitution. Just so everyone is clear on that.

In terms of it being non-violent, we'll see if the UDD keeps to that. And in terms of suddenly forgetting the " arrangement " with Suthep over rally size that Jatuporn was so anxious to remind all of us just last week - guess who's just capitulated ?

They really should have the grammar police after them for their constant misuse of the word 'mass'.

.....but they are champions of the mass debate

Why are you and the PTP so obsessed with coups - one of the things that I have found in life is that people who spend that much time claiming that someone else is thinking some thing is because that is what the speaker is thinking.

A coup to upsurging legal authority and taking it to gain total control of a country.

PTP has been busy trying to dismantle the checks and balances (doctrine of the separation of powers) - trying to change the constitution by unlawful and undemocratic means .......

That is also a type of a coup ....

There is another term that you may wish to become familiar with - State sponsored terrorism, You know where the government allows their supporters to form militias' and fails to stop them carrying out actions against their opponents.

edit - typos

A dozen Red Leaders, a few Red MP's and half a dozen Red followers, plus a priest, to hold mass, so they can call it a mass rally?

Who is paying for the elevated toilets this time ? Mr Happy Toilet again ?

Same old, same old reds but different nicks.

More of the incisive political debate we've come across in recent times. Any comments on the mass rally on May 6th - do you think it's justified?.......................... Anything?

No such thing as a 'judicial coup', only rule of law, which the lower courts have already determined she violated.

Shame they can't make the decision on the 5th, then we would see how sincere the red rabble really are.
