The Mysterious Na Jomtien

Featured Replies

There is a thread about the darkside yet equally dark is the nether region that inhabits the space between Tesco Lotus Sukumbit and Bang Saray. Of course Na jomtien is mostly thought of as the north part of Jomtien beach. But it is more!

Indeed there is even a "darkside na jomtien" waiting to be reported on. Are there bars there?

Good apartments? Do farang live there? It is not just beach but a whole inner area that needs its

story to be told. Or is that stretch of Sukamvit simply "Resort Alley"?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Minor correction --- it's actually South of Jomtien, not north.

There are many restaurants, bars, condos etc ---- depends on what you want!!

Thousands of farangs live here. But you need your own transport to explore the region. Lots to do and see. Just hit Suk and start exploring. Pretty much impossible to get lost...at least for very long.

NaJomtien starts at the Southern end of Jomtien Beach. Not sure which road, but down towards Puu Pen or so. Maybe a bit before. And ends past the Ambassador, where it becomes Ban Ampur, then a bit further is Bang Saray.

Don't need to go onto Sukhumvit to explore Na Jomtien.

Well as far as the Ambassador Hotel anyway.

It's a tough area to explore without going on Suk. Pretty much impossible. Roads dead end here and there forcing you back to Suk. I've driven pretty much every road many times in the area from Thepprasit all the way down to Bang Saray. Great fun on a scooter, but I avoid Suk at all costs.

If you are sneaky, you can get from Jomtien to the Ambassador without going on Suk. Have to cut through the temple at Huay Yai road. But the Ambassador cuts you off and from there down to Bang Saray, many roads that leave from Suk just dead end at the sea. But still a great area to explore.

It actually starts at Sigma Resort on Jomtien Beach Road and ends just after the Ambassador. But I thought the area on the other side of Sukhumvit was Huay Yai

I believe it ends once you hit Bang Saray.

I think NaJomtien continues past Ocean Marina. I believe they say they are in Jomtien. That light on Suk past Ocean Marina is about where Ban Amphur begins. Not sure where it ends and Bang Saray begins. But looking at Rimpa Lapin's website, it says they are in NaJomtien also. Maybe Ban Amphur is just a village under NaJomtien?

I also think the other side of Suk is Huay Yai.

Soon the only quiet front beach place near Pattaya Jomtien, please do not visit us !

If I lived there I would feel the same way. Fortunately, the way the roads, alleys are designed it should remain peaceful and quiet for quite some time. Can't say the same for the area of Jomtien administered by Pattaya City.

Na Jomtien goes all the way to Bang Saray, look at the beach side road signs, the last one is Na Jomtien 52 or 54?, After Bang Saray it changes to Satthahip, and yes most of the area east of Sukhumvit there is Huay Yai including where Wat Yan and Silverlake are.

If you want to go by the "Welcome" signs, Na Jomtien starts right after the Pattaya Floating Market when Sukumvit narrows down to 4 lanes and ends at Na Chom Thain 56 (.74 kilometers South of the Nong Nooch entrance)

In the spirit of this thread then, anyone care to recommend (or warn from) a farang friendly bar in the Na jomtien area?

How about a good restaurant?

I am told there is, or was, a fantastic Thai one on the dark side of the Ambassador Hotel - with sign and menu

in Thai only.

Heading south on Sukhumvit, go past the floating market and straight through the next lights. Take the next u-turn and then turn left heading down towards Pinnacles resort. At the end the road turns right and immediately you will pass a number of bars restos on the waters edge. It's nice to visit in late afternoon, watch the Kite surfers, windsurfers, and the fishing boats heading out to the fishing grounds. On a good day the sunset is great. The resto quality varies from time to time, so play it by eye, with the number of diners etc. And good luck.

There are literally dozens of places on or near the beach in NaJomtien. I use to like Puu Pen, but they seem to have gone downhill lately and are absolutely packed on weekends.

The restaurants on the beach near the Pinnacle are very good. Ton Haad is great, as is Sea Falcon. Drifters is good for pizza and a beer...if they are open. Nearby is the Glass House. Great ambiance, but a bit pricey. Further south is The View. Quite nice. After that, just some small shacks on the beach till you get to Ban Amphur. Preecha is the #1 restaurant there.

On south is Rimpa Lapin. Fantastic setting. OK food, a bit pricey. But great at sunset. Make reservations if possible, though none on the weekends. Past that are a few resorts, I like Sunset Village. Nice setting, but again, quite pricey.

In terms of a bar, like you'd find in Pattaya? I've never really seen anything like that down here. They are all farang friendly and cater mainly to Thais.

Posts 11 and 12,pretty much are in agreement. Bang Sare and Na Jomtien are both sub-districts(tambon) of the Sattahip district(amploe) . Huay Yai is a sub-district of the Banglamung district. There are noticeable changes in roads and services when crossing district boundaries. When driving down Jomtien Beach Road the road deteriorates when leaving Pattaya /Jomtien and entering Na Jomtien. I suspect it has to do with funding which was clearly visible when the Jomtien Beach upgrade lighting project suddenly ended when you crossed the boundary to Na Jomtien.

The View is pricey, but very good, with a lovely setting right on the beach.

Huai Yai is definitely east of Sukumvit. Lovely community.

It has been renamed Na Jomtiensky, there's no escape.

Almost bought a house in Huai Yai but a lack of bars and restaurants drove me to buy on the dark side instead.
