Korats Airport

Featured Replies

Prehaps I,m a little behind the times on this one.

Does anyone know what is the situation regarding the airport? I flew to Korat a few years ago but I remember reading last year that all commercial flights were to be stopped,is this the case now?

Cheers

Chris

Yes it's empty, apart from the cleaner.

If you own a private jet, or are a government VIP you can probably land there.

Four different airlines including Thai and Air Asia have tried it over the years, but it's just too close to Bangkok.

By the time you've checked in, handled the normal delay (traditionally 1 hour 20 minutes) for each flight, flown the distance to BKK, and collected your bags you might as well have got on the local bus.

The service went from twice a day to 3 times a week then failed.

I last flew it with Air Asia two years ago for 9 Baht plus 130 Baht tax. They were that desperate for customers.........

Thanks for the info Andy.

Sadly ,at this time I dont have my own jet,I,d like to think I,m working on it , but I,ve as much chance of becoming a Government VIP !!

I dont live in Thailand (yet) but the missus and myself have a house there, its the wifes home town .

Flying seemed to be the best way to do quick visit.

Thanks again!

Chris
