I have finally reached the age where I can access my superannuation in Australia but I need someone to certify copies of my documents first. Looking to avoid a trip to the embassy in Bangkok is there anyone in any of the following categories living in or around Huahin?

  • a Justice of the Peace
  • A judge of a court
  • a magistrate
  • a chief executive officer of a Commonwealth court
  • a registrar or deputy registrar of a court
  • a pereson who is enrolled on the roll of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory, or the High Court of Australia, as a legal practitioner (however described)
  • a police officer
  • an agent of the Australian Postal Corporation who is in charge of supplying postal services to the public
  • a permanent employee of the Australian Postal Corporation with 2 or more years of continous service who is employed in an office supplying postal services to the public
  • a notary public (for the purposes of Statutory Declaration Regulations 1993)
  • an Australian consular officer or an Australian diplomatic officer (within the meaning of the Consular Fees Act 1955)
  • an officer with 2 or more years of continous service with one or more financial institutions (for the purposes of Statutory Declaration Regulations 1993)(eg bank manager, bank officer)
  • a finance company officer with 2 or more years of continous service with one or more finance companies (for the purposes of Statutory Declaration Regulations 1993)
  • an officer with, or authorised representative of, a holder of an Australian financial services licence, having 2 or more continuous years of service with one or more licensees (eg financial planner, adviser, broker), or
  • a member of the institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia or the National Institute of Accountants with 2 or more years of continuous membership.

I know that it is a bit of a long shot, but I can't be shot for asking ...

Please PM me if you can help

Won't your bank manager do? Mine signed documents I needed to prove a Will and they were accepted by the Trustees. And I was only charged 100 baht, from what I remember.

I had assumed that the superannuation company would only accept Australian officials, I had phoned them a month ago to sort out what the process was and they sent me the above list - the only easily accessible Aussies on the list were the consulate but I was trying to avoid the round trip to Bangkok. I will try phoning the company again today to see if they can add clarity, it would be great if a Thai could certify Aussie ID documents.

Coincidently I am also currently filling in all my withdraw forms for my Aust super policy as I am now over 65 & when I enquired to them about the certification process considering I am an overseas resident they said that they would accept a copy of my front page of the passport and a copy of my Thai drivers license both certified by a Thai policeman with a copy of his police ID. This is no problem as my brother-in-law is a senior Royal Thai Police officer, also plse note that there is no Aust tax applicable if you are over 65, good luck !!!
