Unfortunately and I think we all agree that an escalation in the violence from both sides was pretty much inevitable .

I also think through all the robust poster over the last couple of months whether your a red or yellow supporter none of us wants to see any violence.

A lot of posters on here want the crisis over and done with but it seems all parties have reached a stalemate and it doesn't matter which way they jump it's only going to lead to more frustration for the side that misses out.

I think the EC should go ahead with the elections to relieve the pressure that's not only built up but is getting higher by the hour.

The acting PM and the leader of the democrats should at the very least come out and make a bipartisan statement calling for calm and condemning all violence on both sides .

Sutep should be treated as irrelevant as it looks like legally he is out of options except for the new speaker and if he takes suteps side then the violence will definitely escalate .

and with the senate stating that they want election reforms as well before and election...things are only going to get worse as the democrats and PDRC's power grab moves further along.

The shinas are losing their grip. The red government is gradually being kicked out. The big bad guy in Dubai is not a good loser. He will try to cause destruction and havoc as revenge for sending off his puppet government. Last time there were bombs a bullets and burning buildings. He will try the same this time.

Just a couple of red shirts on their way home from a drunken night out.

Thought they would do some undercover work for Thaksin.

Not exactly sure what actions the Democrats are taking in the area of a power grab? Do you mean reform the government and put in election laws that will stop vote buying and intimidation? Not sure as I would see that as an attempt to seize power. More like an attempt to give power to the people.smile.png

The PTP is taking actions to hold on to power in spite of there complete and udder failure as a government.crazy.gif

Soon to have some criminal charges laid against them. Nothing new there. Fact is their leader has one conviction and about 15 other charges waiting for him when he steps foot on Thai soil.wai.gif

The only one interested in violence right now is the gangster Suthep and he has no scruples of arranging this attack on his own people to further his cause while he is still trying to provoke a coup with violent attacks on his own people.

The other side would gain nothing with such an attack.

What a piece of stupidity.

The violence is against the protesters by others.

The only one, as I have said many times , that (thinks he) can benefit from a coup is your hero Thaksin he can then say his legally elected Govt was once again overthrown by the military, international sympathy.

The armed reds will then come out and give him the civil war he so dearly wants.

Revenge, then after the country is devastated he will return the hero and peace maker to unite the people make them prosperous and the country will be so grateful they will make him president for life.

What dreams that man must have, right now he is having a nightmare for PT is finished.

If you really believe what you have posted then please explain how a coup and the reds coming out against it could possibly benefit Suthep.

Stupidity?

Nah, I don't know who did this and I am not making any claims but it does seem PDRC has more to gain from chaos than the reds - all the reds have to do to regain power is simply wait for the next election. A coup will benefit the likes of Suthep, just like it did 8 years ago. The reds coming out against it is irrelevant. It was the army vs the reds in May 2010 and that lasted less than a day. To show my total impartiality in this matter, I think that action was called for btw. The reds were illegally occupying the streets of Bangkok (like the PDRC were earlier this year) and they had ample warning. They should have done the same with the PDRC. Yet the courts ruled CAPO was 'not to obstruct traffic lanes' when dealing with the protesters (who were blocking major intersections). What a joke.

This fear mongering and intimidation by both sides is counter productice and will not lead to resolution. The result us that Thailand, noted for it hospitality and welcome is now perceived more and more as a place to avoid and not invest. Very sad all around.

Better take samples of the bomb residue and run it against all samples of past attacks, including the large stash of bomb making material found in Lumpini Park. We need to find the culprits before more people get hurt.

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

But the people who should do that job are red shirts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are innocent people sleeping in a tent unarmed.................and no one thinks its wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a shame people have to died for Suthep arrogance. People want the right to vote for their leaders not have someone who has other motives select someone of their choice. We need elections first, then reforms, then new elections, nothing else will work.

Waiting for more comments. 'It wasn t the red militia until proven? Proven by whom? A bias police force? Taksin and Jatuporn have unleashed their militia. They are, once again, trying to use fear and hatred as an instrument.

A very sad day for Thailand, when a Government cannot recognize a stalemate when it has arrived. SIT DOWN and talk with the main opposition party and have an interim Government both ELECTED sides can agree upon. Change electoral laws and get on with that long awaited election.

Then Suthep s light will fade and the red s invocations of violence will fall on deaf ears. Both are NOT A PARTY.

RIP to te victims.

It will continue to get worse over the next few months until we have elections.

Correction.

It will continue to get worse over the next few months if elections are forced to happen without much needed reform.

Smelling civil war.

When the judges are just puppets and the police not allowed to make its job => only violence remains.

Yes what you say is true, but I think it goes further. Corruption is so endemic in the major institutions that democracy cannot function. The only way the people have a voice is through protest and intimidation. Unfortunately there is a split in the population, and with no functioning democratic institutions that people have faith in, an election is just a further cause of division. The law is applied whimsically, and with no law the country could indeed descend into a state of civil unrest, if not actual war.

Tarit keep issue arrest warrant on protesters but never try to protect them as these people are equal rights as Thai citizen have rights to request protection for own safety from enforcement officers.

Elections now are not the solution. It will only increase violence at this stage. Reform is the solution.

Lets not talk about civil war. Such a thing is bad news for the people in the country who are both citizen's and expats....but at least the expats can leave.

Many people from both sides of the divide are talking about it as a real possibility. Unless one side or the other step back from the brink............

Both sides need to step back - not just one side

I think farangs need to be quiet too, or unrest also. If there was a civil war which farangs would do more than mouthing off on a forum.

And now a real democracy will fallow? Dream on, they copy most likely US and EU. We have a Theocracy. Meaning they take decisions based on lobbyists that do business. Rich for the rich, war and hunger for the poor.
