Jaturon: Ministers will not step down

BANGKOK, 19 May 2014-- Education Minister Jaturong Chaisang has vowed that he and the 11 other ministers urged to step down to make ways for the section 7 appointed interim prime minister, will not do so.

His comment came as a reply to the recent announcement made by Second Vice Senate President Perasak Porjit that the process of seeking the power to enable the Senate to install such a Prime Minister is now over 80% complete.

According to the Education Minister, as long as the interim government remains in power, the senate's approach cannot be done legally, citing the fact that there are working interim cabinet and working caretaker Prime Minister.

He stressed that a Prime Minister must be an elected member of parliament in accordance with the constitution.

The Education Minister said firmly that the 12 ministers of the current interim cabinet would not step down and that forcing them to do so would be illegal.

He would not bow to the pressure, said Jaturon, adding that he and other cabinet members would join forces with the public going against any prime minister coming into power through Section 7; should one be appointed.

Clearly, these senators who are "URGING" the cabinet to step down ought to be booted out of the senate themselves. They have shown their TRUE COLOR and it is not WHITE.

Well then it looks like it's all over for the lunatic Suthep, don't forget to take your tooth brush on the 27th.

If you care to delve into the individual cabinet members, and look at their achievements in the 3 years, + they got paid for doing nothing but run Thailand down, for the sake of 1 man.

Of course they won't step down. A stupid idea from a desperate maniac & his idiot supporters.

Of course they will not step down, they have not filled their pockets yet

Maybe so, they are all excrement but suthep did give his word to surrender himself if they didn't step down so my comment still stands.

Of course they won't step down.

Because Thaksin has told them to stay

Because as soon as they do the Rice Scam books will be open leading to the arrest of many PT and their cronies

Because there is still something left in the trough

Because many of them won't get re-elected and lose access to the gravy train

Everyone of them is protecting there ar!!se, an audit inspection of the books would be most interesting

If they lost an election they would probably refuse to step down saying it was illegal

No they'll rig it...Thaksin tried that already...beside the massive vote buying.

You nailed it, good man this should be the next mega exploration into the government management. My gripe all along.

Sod all to do with Suthep, I am not covering up for him, it has NOTHING to do with him.

Oh ginjag is a F-- ++++++ just because some nasty pro gov supporters do not want the PTP under scrutiny.

I read the article, thanks. However, it reads like standard Thaksinista camp propaganda, and I assume it is. There is a very real but different route by which a Civil War could occur, which was surprisingly discussed in a Bangkok Post opinion piece yesterday. It does not mean it will. Go look at that, again sorry no reference here. In Thailand all is not what you see. In politics everywhere, it is never what you are told.

Don Mueang reopened to relieve congestion.

Permission granted to begin construction on 3rd runway at Suvarnabhumi

Permission granted to open tendering and grant contracts for 2nd Terminal at Suvarnabhumi

Construction begun on new terminal for Phuket

Reopening on the bids for APIS for Immigration (speeding processing)

Changing grading at Immigration so the 400 officers promoted out of customer-facing roles returned to serving the lines

Yes, that's all in my field - so I felt it was better to stick to that. Incidentally 1-5 of those were delayed by the democrats refusal to sign - No funding or loans necessary, just permission needed (funded by existing AoT reserves and revenues).

That's not a valid reason not to provide a link. The opinion piece of this well-known pro-government man (or should that be anti anti-government protesters?) contains some remarks which may be construed as LM.

Now that's a valid reason not to post a link on this Thai website.

What was stupid was even thinking they would step down 'for the good of the country'.

The PTP have zero interest in the good of the country. They are in it only for what they can pocket themselves. Their sole purpose is to enrich themselves and Thaksin.

All arguments on either side will eventually give way to the following reality -

No country can indefinitely fiscally function without a fully functioning government that has the power of the purse.

Everything will come down to that. All countries need a constant flow of money. Without it, infrastructure services begin to be scaled back, investment recedes, and bills are unpaid. No country can function without a fully functioning government that has the power of the purse. Pheu Thai calls its 26 member caretaker cabinet a fully functioning administration, but of course they can't do anything. At all. They don't have any legislative authority. None. First and foremost, they do not have the power of the purse. None. More sooner than later, that reality will trump the debate, and come down to a very pragmatic question of fiscal survival. As an election becomes more remote, so do the chances of the Senate taking the next step increase. And it will be prompted by one thing - no country can remain indefinitely without a fully functioning government that has the power of the purse.

Is Suthep's word worth the same as Chalerm's and his "promise" to be beheaded if Thaksin wasn't home in Thailand by the New Year of 2014?

Or perhaps Thaksin's words that the has quit Thai politics forever?

That sort of worth or value.

Is that it ??? DMK opened because BKK was built by Thaksin, corrupt from day one. TOP money paid for construction--shoddy materials/aircon not efficient,

top money paid for runways/taxiways--foundations surfacing cheap Charlie job, capacity in a few years full--little forward thinking.

That is my 10% of rip offs in the construction and acquiring of land for BKK.

Road/rail/canals--deteriorating fast.

Education highest spending in the world lowest education in the bottom half of world. Loads more.. want to try anything apart from airports ???

No, I stuck to my specialty - which clearly is not yours.

Were you aware of the master airport plan originally? 2nd terminal completion was meant to commence in 2007 and finish in 2012 - why do you think that didn't happen? Were you aware of when the land for suvarnahbhumi was originally acquired? (clearly not).

As for land subsidence - actually for that area the new airport has suffered remarkably little. It's true at the time the consultant contractors recommended a longer bedding period, however that would have created another 18 month delay and reduced the risk by 10%.

Through every stage of the project, every week there were Japanese auditors appointed by the JETRO counting everything right down to the numbers of chairs and whiteboards in offices (protecting their 65 billion thb investment very jealously). The propoganda in the newspapers about corruption was just that - even the very famous 10x increae in cost of the baggage scanners was actually due to the US govt policies post Sept 11 (only governments could buy, not the building contractor).

Now, do you have any actual facts?

EDIT - uncalled for insult by me removed - sorry Ginjag

I agree that a reality check is long overdue for both side. However in this case both sides don't give the tiniest fraction of a f__ about the country's good governance. They are fighting for power and for the right to line up their own pockets and the threat of fiscal ruin is the last thing on their minds.
