Never mind martial law. The location of Pie Sabai is of much greater relevance to my daily life.

I picked up some of their perfectly excellent German Rye Bread at Tops and did an internet search to learn more about them. One old page indicated that they had opened up a "bistro" in their garden area out somewhere near Wat Umong, so I puttered around that neighbourhood but found nothing.

Anybody know where Pie Sabai is, can you buy baked goods directly from them, and do they serve meals? Bonus points for geo coordinates or a google map location.

Thanks in advance!...

used to get a nice breakfast in their garden over 10 years ago if it's the same one. I like their pies and buy regularly from Rimping.

Am I confusing this name with another or what......wasn't Pie Sabai the name of the bakery that was run by Audrey, wife of the late Jeremy Dotson? If so I thought she had moved back to the UK .

@GreatGonzo

I believe you are correct, and I've certainly heard Audrey's name associated with this business. But you can certainly still buy Pie Sabai bread at a few places around town, and it's as good as bread gets. Maybe someone else took over that side of the business???

She did. But well before that she had sold the business. I think the restaurant part of the business is closed now.

I am also a big fan of their bread, particularly the sourdough rye. The rudimentary map above didn't hep me too much. I hope someone will elaborate a bit on it - with directions etc.

My favorit Pai Sabai bread is the walnut bread. They also make the best rye in town. When it comes to pies though, the new king is Sausage King.

Last I remember--and mind that this info is several years old--driving on Huay Keaw Rd away from KSK and towards Phukom hotel, you drive past Phukom and after around 500 meters, there's a sign "Pai Sabai" pointing to a soi on your left. It was a fairly long drive into the soi before you see the place.

Caution: my memory isn't that great!

No prizes, I know, but that's the best I got.

The hunt is over.

Turns out the Garmin GPS Thailand map has Piesabai (all one word) baked into it, at the same location shown on the facebook image that the narked diver provided ( 18°49'06.2"N 98°58'12.5"E ). I followed the GPS to a small residential house in a quiet neighbourhood that had a couple of old and fading Pie Sabai signs out front and found a couple of women in the backyard doing some laundry and playing with phones. They called for the man of the house, a middle-aged Thai guy who spoke ok English.

They could sell me some bread if I wanted, but they only had 4 loaves in what was probably a personal-use basket. They don't have a store-front there. I gather this guy bought the business from Audrey. He ran the bistro out by Wat Umong for a while but closed it down 6 years ago. Now, all they do is bake bread in their home and distribute it to various supermarkets around town.

A nice guy, a nice family, and a pleasant afternoon topped off with the always excellent Chicken Fried Steak at Gonzo's Pun Pun Guesthouse. It's a few years too late for the bistro, but the Pun Pun is still a great choice.

Yes that is how I understand matters.

I occasional used to have a breakfast there and knew Jeremy from The Pub. His sudden death in Vietnam ? was a surprise to all.

What? I firmly believed that Pun Pun was strictly vegetarian. And located near the end of SuThep Rd, near CM Univ, and at the base of a hill. Is there also a carnivore Pun Pun?

Yes, the original one. It is full of strapping young lads from Thai Visa most of the time, getting their protein fix.
