Police make weapons link in probe of deadly attack on PDRC

BANGKOK: -- The spent cartridges fired from automatic weapons in a deadly attack on anti-government protesters in Trat in February were from the same weapon found in a cache of arms seized in a raid last week by police and military officers in Samut Sakhon, police said.

In short, an M3 submachine gun - and 45mm munitions - found in the Samut Sakhon raid is the weapon used in the attack on members of the People's Democratic Reform Committee in Trat," deputy police chief General Aek Angsananont told a press conference yesterday.

Aek said police were investigating connections between a female suspect, Janthana Warakornsakulkij, who had admitted to owning the weapons, and other people allegedly involved.

He said police were also investigating the authenticity of member cards issued by the pro-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship that were found in Janthana's apartment.

A group of gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons on the PDRC supporters on the night of February 2, killing three people including two young children and wounding a large number of people.

Aek said the military had nothing do with the attack.

Meanwhile, a paramilitary ranger was shot and killed during a raid on a home in Trat's Khao Saming district where three men suspected of taking part in the attack in February resided.

The gunmen grabbed the dead ranger's M16 and fled while the raid team arrested the two others, placing them in custody for questioning.

Aek said police were looking further into an attack using M79 and automatic weapons on PDRC supporters occupying Rajdamnoen Avenue in Bangkok this month, but had no further leads.

They know more already and more will come out soon no doubt. Hopefully it can lead to those who ordered attacks, but i doubt they left clear evidence, so it may not be as easy, but let's hope.

However, please do not call for a firing squad nor call it "nice". Great post, I wonder how many will defend the red shirts if it is know their leaders ordered this attack. Now lets wait for the results and see who is paying for all this and who ordered it.

I mentioned in an other topic that ever since there is a coup and the red elements blocking investigations are moved to inactive posts or in custody progress is made. The conclusion can only be the reds did not want this to be solved, I can imagine why. Being linked to murdering kids is bad PR. Though on stage quite a few leaders forgot and were happy and cheered when they got the news about the Trad attack. Only until the smarter leaders came to their senses and silenced them.

If there is solid proof implicating the reds, I for one am going to try to forward links to the press in my country to show why it was needed to remove a corrupt government. Two very important things must happen from all this.

1.... Forget the criminal courts, All those rounded up who are connected to these atrocious crimes should be put in front of a court martial and condemned to death, marched out and put straight in front of a military firing squad.

2.... The military should appoint an investigative unit to ferret out the chain of command within the police force and find the uppermost level where the command was given to stop the investigations of the murders of these children and protesters. This is conspiracy to commit murder. once those guilty at the top are established, they too should be marched into a military court and receive the exact same fate.

This will serve as a warning to others that this sort of thing is not tolerated in LOS and any acts of terrorism will be met with a swift execution, not languishing in prison for a few years waiting for the royal pardon.

This is all 'one in the eye' for all those TV reds who were accusing the PDRC of doing all these attacks themselves for sympathy.

None of those bothered to bat an eyelid when people were being slaughtered at the hands of the government supporting dogs. Neither did they demand the government or the DSI or CAPO or the police find these dregs and bring them to justice. But by the mere action of the govt not finding the killers speaks louder than words. And you believe in democracy. Maybe you do, but you sure have a deep agenda. After 23 people killed and 700+ injured, you mean there is not one suspected found? People are scared for their lives, literally, because police are not able to defend their basic democratic rights. And even the head of the govt, Chalerm, warned democratic citizens not to go to these rally because they are concern for their safety. If that is not suppression of free speech, I don't know what is. They even shown their true color by finding gunman when it concerns anyone attacking their supporters, like the UDD group. Making arrest of people with arms and linking them to PDRC. With so many much more incidents against the protesters, they can't even catch one.

But now with the military, within a few days of taking power catches these criminal, which police did nothing to go after them. Not catching even one person for the murder is a form of suppression of freedom of speech. Let me explain to you how this is a form of suppression of free speech. After 23 people killed and 700+ injured, you mean there is not one suspected found? People are scared for their lives, literally, because police are not able to defend their basic democratic rights. Hence people are afraid to speak up against the government or go to the rallies. And even the head of the govt, Chalerm, warned democratic citizens not to go to these rally because they are concern for their safety. If that is not suppression of free speech, I don't know what is. They even shown their true color by finding gunman when it concerns anyone attacking their supporters, like the UDD group. Making arrest of people with arms and linking them to PDRC. With so many much more incidents against the protesters, they can't even catch one.

But now with the military, within a few days of taking power catches these criminal, which police did nothing to go after them. And the biggest crime are US and all the international community not demanding the govt. to protect the basic rights of people here. Talking about hypocrites. Denouncing the coup, when democracy was already destroyed. This is a reset that is needed. I sometimes forget, that the govt. of these countries probably have to look out for their own peeps. So they are willing to turn a blind eye on the issue that goes against their associates.

While there is concern from the international community concerning the actions of the current military junta there was a deafening silence from those same self righteous smug international bodies concerning the attacks on civilian protesters by armed assassins.

Strange how that bastion of freedom Robert Amsterdam stood on the sidelines in complete silence .Indeed the delights of ''paid for dual standards'' are amazing.

interesting to note that now the so called leaders or manipulators heading up the assorted self professed security and law keeping bodies have been removed progress is suddenly made in this particular case.

None of those bothered to bat an eyelid when people were being slaughtered at the hands of the government supporting dogs. Neither did they demand the government or the DSI or CAPO or the police find these dregs and bring them to justice. They just continually barked support for the government, even though they all probably knew deep down that these exact same people they were supporting to remain in power were the exact same regime that was almost certainly behind the facilitation for the perpetuation and continence of these murders, ..... if not...... secretly ordering them.

in addition - and for me personally most telling - was the fact there was no credible sincere condemnation from the ruling powers themselves at the time.

It was more important for Yingluck to inspect vegetables on a PR tour somewhere in the country than going on TV to address the nation and condemn the killings - especially as their own hardcore supporters were filmed cheering the news of killings.

What kind of "government" does not make a clear public address in such a situation??
