BKK to Khon Kaen/ Udon night flights?

Hello folks.

I was wondering if any of you good people could help me out with some flight info.

Have lost count how many times I have made the journey up country and how many numb bums I have suffered from sitting in a bus or pick up truck.

Next month I am back in Thailand again and was thinking about catching a flight instead of doing it by road.My planes lands in BKK at 18.00 and instead of staying in BKK for the night I was hoping to continue my journey home the same evening.I have checked with a couple of domestic airlines to see what times the last flights were but from the ones I found I would never make it there on time for boarding.

Do any of you folk know if there is a late flight that I could catch? I really appreciate any information that could help me.

Many thanks

Shaggy

Edit........will arrive BKK on a Saturday, not sure if this make any difference with it being in the weekend.

Thai Smile TG2010 BKK 18:10 - UTH 19:15

Bangkok Airways PG355 BKK

18:45 - UTH 19:50

would be the latest connections so your landing should be like 16:00-17:00 latest.

From DMK 19:15 with Nok Air is no option due to the transfer time.

Bye,

Derk

19:50 is the last flight with Nok air.

Still you have to count in immigrations and transfer to Dom Muang.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply Derk and Poorsucker.

However there are loads of clean cheap hotels in Lat Krabang catering precisely for people like you with drop-off and pick-up services. Catch a morning flight.

Shaggy; ..IF my memory serves me correctly you were based in Kalasin but maybe it is not now the same location? But whatever your destination in that region you will not be able to reach DM in time that same evening. So you have the option of staying overnight in BKK and catching an early flight to ........? Or endure another bus trip overnight. There is an early flight to Roi-et at about 6.00 am on Nok Air.

Thanks guys I really appreciate your input.

It is looking more and more like an overnighter BKK,bad foresight on my behalf when I booked the flight.

The main reason for trying to get home ASAP was to see the little ones (and the Missus of course)

Yeah am still in Kalasin ib1b4,I think a good nights rest and then hop on a plane to Udon,KK or Roi-et the next day.

Have done the back to back journeys before too many times, the worst one was last year when one of the family came to

the airport to pick me up.I thought that we would of been home in 8 hours....nah.had to stop off and pick more family members

on the way and then got hit on the motorway by the whole of Isaan returning home from BKK.In total it took me 33 hours to get

home.......Talk about being knackered.

Anyway guys I appreciate your help......'One night in Bangkok' it is.

There is an App called "Thai Flight" that I use all the time. Every domestic flight and airline in Thailand in a really easy to use format and not once has I ever caught it out with incorrect information or prices. Well worth the few dollars for people who fly domestically in Thailand.

Also for Khon Kaen no better news.

Latest flight on Saturday evening is 19:20h with Air Asia from Suvarnabhumi.

1:20h for transfer, might work or not, hard to say from here.

Due to the downturn of arriving passengers chances are not that bad (not that long queues?).

Transferring to Don Mueang at that time: no way.

You could try your luck with Air Asia without pre booking.

Unlucky: go to hotel.

I really appreciate You taking the time and effort to help but I reckon that 19.20 flight would be cutting it too fine.

18.05 landing (if no delays) passport check, baggage pick up and then a mad dash to buy a ticket and then check-in would

just be too much.I think the best option now will be to find a hotel and get my head down (after having a couple of cold ones).

Maybe, I am to long together with my GF, but ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK, lower Sukhumvit area, fits me and my body very well!

If you're going to stay near Swampy the Thong Ta resort hotel is pretty good. They do free transport from/to the airport. If you book through Agoda or Booking you'll probably get a room for about 600Bt.

Thank for the tip sustento, just had a look on their site and at Agoda.Standard room with breakfast for 750 baht.

Have got another question(s) for you good folk.

From your experiences, which airport and airline would you recommend?

Also about booking,do I need to pre book for domestic flights? from what I can see there quite a few airlines heading Isaan way......are the flights always full?

The reason I ask is that maybe My Missus and our eldest boy will be coming to meet me after all at Swampy. So am not sure if I will be booking 1 seat or 3 seats for the flight back home.

Regards and thanks

Depending where you fly to,

from Suvarnabhumi flies

BANGKOK AIR to Udon Thani the best choice in my opinion regarding Airline and very good service.

Has now a promotion to new flown Udon Thani and so all standard prices are not much different to others.

Free luggage and free on board menu and free airport gate lounge before boarding.

Nok Air and Air Asia fly from older Don Muang Airport,

Air Asia has a fine for luggage and everything else on board costs also.

Nok Air has free luggage 15 kg and a small snack and drinks on board.

Air Asia flies also to Khon Kaen, Nok Air to Roi Et but only early morning and more high price!

Thai airways = Thai smile more price anyway smile.png

If you going to have to stay overnight, then fly up North from DMK, you don't need to worry about the transfer time if you're spending the night. As I'm writing this, wife is getting ready to fly today from Khon Kaen to visit her sister 790฿ + 105฿ (seat fee) on Air Asia. You really cant beat that. TG is 2x, yes you get a box meal for free, for 45 mins in the air who cares, awfully expensive 'Happy Meal'.

1. Nok or Air Asia from Don Meuang. Value for money.

I chose not to fly Orient Thai due to their safety record. I chose not to fly Bangkok Air or Thai domestically due to their price. Up to you.

2. The earlier you book, the more chance you have of a seat and the cheaper it will be. Pay at the airport and you will pay full fare or near to it and you may have to wait for another flight as the next one or two may be full.

How about a mid-day flight? -- can't check into a hotel until 2 PM anyway and who wants to get up and head to the airport for a 6:40 AM just for a flight DMK to KKC

Posted (edited)

Yes -- but I was suggesting that Nok Air might schedule a mid-day flight to /from KKC - DMK.

Next time better change time of arrival of international flight at Suvarnabhumi BKK to early morning ( 06.00-09.00 hours ) and when flying e.g. Thai Airways from Suvarnabhumi BKK to e.g. Udon buy a properly connecting domestic ticket at the same travel agency as you did for the international ticket because sometimes ( e.g. on a Friday ) only business seats may be available ... happened to me once ...
