Good article.

I noticed it was dated May 29 2014 and not one word to try and scare people off.

All about the many things to do in Chiang Mai.

Part of the Anthony Bourdain thingy - he was here in Feb I think.

Maybe the TV show just about to air - hence the article comes out.

They are pretty big steps up Doi Suthep if there are only 300 of them and you can take them instead of the scenic road, smile.png

"Most make the trek up the 300-plus steps of the Naga staircase to visit the working monastery in the daytime ..."

It's the number of steps up from the parking area to the wat at the top, not up Doi Suthep (mountain) itself.

"There's also a scenic road up Doi Suthep for those who prefer to drive."

The concluding sentence doesn't make much sense in the context. You drive or are driven up the scenic road and then you can walk up the steps. It's not an either/or thing (unless something has changed radically since the last time I was there). I suppose you could first walk up the road and then walk up the steps (if you are very fit or if you are suicidal).

Makes no difference when the show was made.

the point is that today many of the foreign countries are running around pronouncing the sky is falling the sky is falling right now. Here is a major network denying it and saying it is a great place to visit.

You should check it out it is an article not a show. They could very easily made it a doom and gloom thing. They are aware of what is happening in Thailand right now and are not saying one word bad about it.

Actually, it is a TV show....the article was taken/written from parts of the broadcast that aired in the U.S. last night. According to CNN, the show (Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown) airs in Asia on Fridays at 2300 HKT. So the Thailand episode may be airing in Asia this Friday.

I know it makes no sense in the context. that is why I said what I did. It has obviously been written as a whole by someone who never had been there just read brochures.

It was a promo for the show, which aired last night in the US on CNN.

I wouldn't know about that I just read the article and it is current. No doom and gloom currently by CNN is all I am saying. It is in print now spread all over the world. Dated in print May 29 2014. Seems to me have seen clips of Anthony Bourdain before and he is more interested in the culinary side of his travels. Maybe It was some one else. But at any rate here is the source of the information.

Here is some thing that might clear up the misconception here.

A little bit of Anthony Bourdain goes a long way.
