As for "losing money" - I see the baht buses in Pattaya making a lot more money than a lazy Phuket tuk-tuk driver who sits around all day waiting to rip off one tourist for a days wages.

I heard it too in the Bars in Patong - Brits, Ozzies, Norwegians, Germans, Dutch, and French people always talk about Phuket leaving Thailand an becoming a Tourist paradise and a Narco State where all drugs are legal............. Yeah Right!!!! one day pigs will fly under their own power as well.

The talk was about Thailand's main tourist areas becoming "Special Economic Zones" and therfore exempt from such things as 2am close of bars, and I suspect, casinos would be allowed in these zones. It was to give these areas, officially, more autonomy.
