Why ? really depends on what you buy and condition, guy in the next house up in the Village paid 109,000 baht 5 years ago next month for a very nice Toyota Soluna, goes to work every day as well as the family run a bout, never had a problem, if sold today guess would still get around the same price. he more or less gave away his old car a Mitsubishi Champ with constant breakdowns.. Something like a Honda lots of parts about cheap every mechanic can fix cheap............. lots of BMW E30's about for 80,000 baht or less but not so cheap to fix.
