I was looking into this as part of my "homework" before my wife and I leave the UK for good next year. The site mentioned http://www.cwc.co.th/cwc/index.php was blocked by Google as a source for malicious code and unauthorised loading of programs onto one's computer. So I was unable to research on it.

Google say if I understand it correctly that the site does not originate the malicious code but is the unwitting host for it.

Just thought I'd mention this for the benefit of others, having one's car break-down is bad enough without having one's computer trashed as well.

So - is there any other break-down option available that members know of. In the UK we have RAC, AA, Green Flag, what is there in Thailand?

Allianz Thailand has roadside assistance.

Is that also a car insurance company? Do you have a link please?

1, 790 Baht for 0 to 6 years old.

2, 290 Baht for 7 to 10 years old.

2, 700 Baht for older than 10 years.

Often there's a better deal in combination with your car-dealer but they will tell you if that's the case.

The prices are per annum.

When I looked at their site it did appear that they worked in conjunction with dealerships and not individuals. We'll be buying an older car - nothing anywhere near new and you're saying they will deal with an individual on an old car? How did you find those prices Fredk?

We're looking at the unfashionable but cheap big Ford 4 x 4's as a 2004/5 model goes for around thb350,000 but with mountain road use in mind it would be suitable for our needs.

I'll tell you what - it's Monday morning, I'm about to hop in the shower before joining the rush-hour here in UK and I've got another year and a half of doing this as I need to push up my pension level so I'm gonna have to be working up to 69.5yrs old. We can't wait to get out of here! I just hope I can last out!

The prices were in their quote to me on enquiry. When I said it was for a Suzuki they mentioned a special offer in conjunction with Suzuki.

Then I did the same for my Mazda and was offered a special deal in conjunction with the Mazda dealer.

It means that if the car is towed it will be towed to your dealer.

I haven't seen many 2004 4x4's here of any make for that low a price. Thai used car prices are pretty high. Checkout bahtsold.com to get an idea.

Two years later: any further recommendations/warnings? I'm shopping for roadside assistance coverage on two cars.
Thanks

We're still members of Car World Club for our 2 cars. I've never had to use them but the wife (thai) has used them successfully in central BKK twice. Not sure if they are only in BKK or all over Thailand (website mainly in Thai). If you can speak a bit of thai then you'll be ok.
