Chris has been working on a legal case against a guy in our building that was committing major fraud to build a roof top restaurant/bar illegally. This case is worth over a million dollars to the accused. As Chris was spearheading the case against the individual, it would be a great way to eliminate the prosecution by doing something like this to set him up. The devil is in the details but I have heard stories like this several times in Thailand. Personally I don't believe these charges.

Why do I get the feeling that these boys are operating some sort of a scam? They hang around walking Street and it is not the 1st time they have been sexually assaulted.

Of all places? I have never been to Pattaya, however Walking Street is so notorious, I have heard about it many times.

He broke the legal age laws and faces punishment.

However the moralists are a bit over the top. The assaults are "alleged".

A crime is something seen to hurt another, and an assault is something done without consent.

If the report is accurate, it was not their first time and so they were not innocent minors. They knew what they were doing

and accepted money for a service.

It is possible they lied about their age, which he probably knew no doubt.

The unseen guilty parties? Parents, teachers, the carers, the community, the state and the whole country is also shamed,

If he's found guilty by a court then he should be punished in accordance with the law. The circumstances surrounding what the two boys were actually doing in Walking Street should be also fully investigated as Chooka rightly states.

Even if nothing sexual ocurred how is it sensible in any way for a grown man to take underage boys he meets on walking street (or anywhere for that matter) to a home / room / whatever?

It's not a set up, possibly entrapment, but any person with half a brain would steer well clear of putting themselves in a compromising position such as what was reported.

History of sexual abuse yet still on walking street (what time? - bet if wasn't 645pm) willing to go with the man or a customer for money. Are the kids milking the system? It sounds as though there are a few twists and turns to this story ! Maybe he was set up, maybe he does have secrets in regards to his sexual preferences. One thing that is puzzling though, is why these Cambodian kids are on Walking Street ? Additionally, what is their Visa Status ? If they were being cared for in a shelter then why are they not still in that shelter ? If this guy has taken these kids home......then what were his real intentions ?

What ever the circumstances, this bloke will find it difficult to show his face in Pattaya now...........so me thinks it's time to move on. As for the kids, there should be a deeper investigation as to why there were on W.S and how effective is this so called shelter for these kids......I don't think shelters should be located in places like Pattaya, surely they would be more effective out of the way of temptation and teach these kids a skill ?
