Where to find old style embroidery sewing machine that does chain stitch , not a computerised one !

Featured Replies

,I was wondering if there are any old used Singer 114W103 Industrial Sewing Commercial Chain Stitch machines for sale , or one like it

, they are a Cornely of France design ,

they were made by Singer in many countries and Cornely has made them for 100 years, plus many other companies made them too

some are electric and some are foot powered

here is a picture of one model and what it can do ,

I know there are computer powered machines , but we would like to get a couple of these to do more "art" type of work

or if you know of any shops that do this type of work as they will know where to buy the machines and spare parts for them

thanks for your ideas ,

Try Klong Thom market Bangkok, a lot of old stuff, specially on Saturdays and Sundays.

thanks , I know there are a bunch of sewing machine shops on the Charoen Krung road from the train station into Chinatown , but they have new machines , I never asked about a chain stitch machine,......

I do not think I have seen a shop selling used or rebuilt sewing machines , and then I have to find the rarer chain stitch embroidery machines smile.png .....

I would think at one time there were sweat shops that did embroidery work , most is now done by computer controled machines that you see at Boe Bae etc .....

In all my walking around I have not seen a shop displaying shirts or jackets that were not computer done ! ..... Maybe a lost art !

went hunting around in Chinatown today and did find one new Chinese copy machine but no USA - European - Japanese ones

the chinese one was 5 - 10 years old and never sold , not sure how bad the quality control was back then ,

Are there other areas or streets around BKK that have used sewing machines or repair shops that might have one or more of these ?

Thanks for your help

I vaguely remember seeing a shop selling the new (old) ones on Sukhumvit Rd when I took the bus from Ekkamai Bus Station

I vaguely remember seeing a shop selling the new (old) ones on Sukhumvit Rd when I took the bus from Ekkamai Bus Station

just went out there, 2 shops on right after the canal after Soi 71 and before On Nutt left side heading out of town ,

the first shops owner speaks perfect english......but they did not have old style embroidery machine but did have nice commercial machines....

there was another place near soi 60-62 but the bus did not stop near there and I was headed back to check out the other 2 shops....

so thanks but still searching,,,,,,

Hey BKK dreaming,

Could you give me a few more land marks to the sewing shop on soi 71 On Nutt mate?

I was out that way a few years ago staying and always saw the shop, well might of been the same shop and I went out there about 5 weeks back but got a little lost lol anyway I drove and walked about and could not find the joint. I thought it must of closed down so if you have a google map mark or a few near by land marks that would help me heaps. I am just chasing a straight stitch or zig zag second hand machine.

Thanks
